Eleven people were stabbed in a church-run homeless shelter in Oregon that is directly across from the local police HQ, according to authorities.
At least one member of staff at the Union Gospel Mission in Salem is among the wounded following the shocking scenes at around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The 11 wounded were rushed to a Salem hospital with “varying types of injuries,” police said.
The suspect, who is in custody, had arrived at the mission the previous night and was about to check into the 150-person ministry again for a second night when he started brawling just as he was supposed to hand his belongings over to staff, officials said.

I have a dear friend who used to volunteer his time at a local homeless shelter. He finally had to leave b/c he said there were so many violent, unstable, mentally ill “patrons” that made the shelter very dangerous for not only the denizens of the shelter but staff as well.
“...started brawling just as he was supposed to hand his belongings over to staff, officials said”.
Drugs in the bag? Didn’t want them to see? Was he on drugs?
My speculations.
It’s Oregon, so the stabber will be let out on their own recognizance, if charges actually do get submitted.
Oregon tries to let such people up their record.
Probably another one of those MAGA folks ... you know, the ones perpetuating all the violence in the US these days ... just ask Jasmine Crotchhead: ‘Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) falsely claims “80% of the most extreme crime in this country are from white supremacists”’
He’s in his thirties now, and if he doesn’t change I seriously doubt he’ll make it to 40.
Even though he’s our nephew, we don’t want him around. He’s not welcome in our home.
We used to volunteer with a monthly food panty distribution.
Grocery stores and people would donate can and non-perishable goods to the church food pantry where we’d bag them up accordingly. We made an sincere effort to ensure each bag was equally filled. One bag/family/month was the rule.
It got so bad on several ocassions that vicous arguements and outright cat fights would ensue over the distribution.
My wife and I finally just quit volunteering out of fear for our own safety and/or arrest in defending ourselves....it just wasn’t worth it.
The church finally stopped doing a general public food pantry and eventually used some other method to ensure the goods got into the hands of those families that actually needed it.
How terrible
Unfortunately.
You know it occurs to me gun control might actually increase violent crimes like this.
How many crazies, thugs and criminals with a 15 dollars sharp knife from Walmart in their pocket might look at an older person and say “id like to take his X or I hate that Y because …or Z looks sexy as hell , let me grape her”.
Then think “what if they have a shiny pistol or revolver? I better not”.
🤔
People who should be in asylums walking the streets, again.

Anyone else, we are literally getting terrorist attacks daily now...
Liberals like to pretend that the homeless are just like everyone else except for a run of bad luck. All they need is a hand up, a temporary shelter or a job and everything will be peachy keen.
The truth is that most of these folks are homeless because they don’t play well with others. They have alienated family and friends, abused past helpers, and threatened harm to everyone around them. Then they try to stack these folks on top of each other in shelters and wonder why mayhem happens.
Bigger and more real issue is the invention of cheap and readily accessible man made hard drugs. The increased rates of mental illness is more a symptom of rampant hard drug addiction rather than a cause. Illicit drug use has skyrocketed since the early 20th century and just keeps increasing every decade, thus so does the rate of mental illness. The real solution is eliminate hard drugs. Incarceration and mandatory rehab is necessary to protect the public from the drug addict.
You’re a busy little Pinger, today! Thanks! :)
Ha! Sometimes there’s nothing to ping. And then there are other days...
$15? I’ve spent enough time in homeless encampment areas to know that knives aplenty can be found lying on the ground. WalWart is for shoplifting...not buying.
