We are potentially just one eruption away from a horrifying global famine that could kill millions. Yellowstone has a magma layer venting pressure...It’s helping stabilize it. I know one of the UTD people from this study.
That said if you drop a multi megaton nuke to the bottom of Yellowstone lake that 3.8 km would breach pretty easy. There was a DARPA report on just this subject it scared the critters on the hill so it was rapidly classified since it’s a how to create an apocalypse instruction set for a certain group of zealots trying to bring their demon god to the world.
