I loved Top Gun Maverick. I know this one is not as good, but is it still worth seeing at the movies?
I do not know. I have not been in a movie theater since 1970 - Patton. I simply wait until the movies are shown on cable TV. Will I miss the movies which come to TV after I am dead? Yes, of course. However, I will not care, will I? ;-)
I saw it this week.
I hadn’t followed the previous movies so it took a minute to remember the players. The story did not make a ton of sense. The stunts and cinematography were 10/10. Tom cruise is my age, and he is in great shape. But…he is my age.
It was almost three hours long.
I went on Senior Discount night, so it wasn’t THAT expensive.
It was about a 7/10. If you are a fan of the others in the series it was a nice bit of closure.
I like Cruise generally, but sometimes the ultra-cockiness grates. That’s why I’ve intentionally never seen a couple of his films. I’d recommend Collateral with him and Jamie Foxx for a very atypical Cruise film that I really liked. I’ve enjoyed the MI series and look forward to seeing it
In real life Maverick would have been court martialed many times. If you are a pilot you will love the movie. Oddly the most poignant scene was when Maverick went to the Admiral (Ice Man) for advice about his dead copilot’s (Goose) son who was now a Naval aviator.
Great movie, totally unrealistic but you will like it.
I have heard that it is fairly patriotic like the second Top Gun.
We just rewatched “A Few Good Men” the other night. That movie has aged well for a 33 year old movie. Jack Nicholson is perfect in it, and Toms’ cockiness actually adds to it.
Ice Man was right.
The thing that struck me the most when I saw it 39 years ago is at the end everybody on the ship is cheering because they just started WWIII.
No, nothing’s ‘worth’ seeing anymore. Sorry.
Well, if that’s the way you feel about movies why did you feel you needed to comment on this thread? Who cares that you don’t go to movies?
The whole film is built around this Hail-Mary:
“…YOU ordered the Code Red!”
“Ya damn right I ORDERED THE CODE RED!!!”
Thrilling. Fun to watch but… I’d hoped he’d checkmate him with facts.
Ah, well. Not very exciting, I know.
Has a DEI President, is 3 hours long, pretty fake in parts, but it’s probably better than 99% of the trash coming out from Hollywood. Some good stunts. It’s worth a watch.

That scene worked for me because Nicholson set the character up perfectly, especially when everbody in the courtroom knows he just confessed to a crime except him.
Cruise's character in Mission Impossible movies is intelligent, creative, commanding and loyal to his team. Personally, I like the character. I don't see cockiness per se.
You got me there. He can’t deny his final comeuppance is memorable and rich!
Yes, I saw it last weekend.
However, you should watch the previous MI movie on Amazon Prime prior to this one.
It starts where the previous movie left off.
Yes, there are some DEI parts that are kind of annoying.
Just like there are some parts that are totally unbelievable, but you just have to go with it.
If you can see it in Imax it is even better.
The last big stunt scene really is spectacular.
FYI, the last movie I saw in a theater was Maverick.
So, IMHO go have fun and make sure you go to the bathroom first.
It is three hours long.
It was well worth it. Pure action and escapism. I’m glad I saw it. Don’t know how old Tom Cruise does it. The bi-plane scene was great and very nerve racking.
Yes and too many women... thats why it is the final.
Sorry I was referring to some of his other films. Great character in MI
This guy was excited to go see the movie...
