Earth is likely to cross a key climate threshold in two years

A new World Meteorological Organization report spells the end of the goal to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels.

Seven years ago, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicted that the world wouldn’t warm 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels until 2040.

Then two years ago, the group predicted the world would pass that threshold between 2030 and 2035.

Now, new data from the World Meteorological Organization released Wednesday indicates that the Earth will cross this point in just two years.

The accelerated timeline is due to higher-than-expected temperatures over the past few years, diminishing air pollution that cooled the Earth, and greenhouse gas emissions that continue to rise globally despite the growth of renewable energy.

And it means that irreversible tipping points in the climate system — like the melting of Arctic ice sheets or the wide-scale collapse of coral reefs — are closer at hand than scientists previously believed.

The WMO report predicted five more years of sky-high temperatures — which, combined with hotter conditions driven by the El Niño weather pattern, mean that the planet is poised to officially warm 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) over a sustained period by 2027.

“There is no way, barring geoengineering, to prevent global temperatures from going over 1.5 degrees,” said Zeke Hausfather, a climate scientist and the climate research lead at the payments company Stripe. Geoengineering refers to deliberately cooling the planet, for example by injecting aerosols into the atmosphere — a practice that is hotly debated.

Nearly a decade ago, delegates from more than 190 nations agreed in Paris to pursue “efforts to limit the temperature increase” to 1.5 degrees Celsius, after small-island nations protested that higher temperatures would sink their land beneath rising waves.

While there...

The "science" of "the experts" is garbage.

I got yer "science" for ya right here: Wiley just had to shut down 19 "scientific" journals and retract 11,000 fraudulent "peer reviewed" papers.

Does that mean we ONLY HAVE TWO YEARS LEFT?

OH NO!

There goes my three year plan.

I think I’ll just sit back and wait.

Well at least they won't tip over.

Ya, so what? Be glad you’re not in an ice age. Yes, the weather changes - get over it and get a life. These scare tactics only work on woke minds.

“Tipping points” exist only in the fevered minds and arcane computer software models of the idiot enthusiasts. The 1.5 degree “threshold” was a number picked off the wall by Hans Schellnhuber from the Potsdam propaganda mill to give the bright boys in Paris something to hang their hat on.

But as long as outlets like WaPo continue to publish this rubbish, and corrupt governments continue to put billions on the table, the BS will continue to flow unabated.

1. May we always remember the ONLY “climate research” proposals that get gubmit grants. Wanna bet what their “research” results will say?

2. However, we should believe the predicted results because ...er...uh...have actually occurred.

IPCC hasn’t updated their climate models in over 30 years and don’t reflect new findings in solar research. In fact, climate models still calculate the sun as an isotropic heat source.

Okay. I’m not going to pay my bills. I’ll just use this report as justification.

The solar cycle is the most accurate “climate model” of all, with a 93% accuracy rate, but it doesn’t give them the answer they want so they don’t use it.

Heck, I believe I will see if there is any of that USAID $$$ floating around.

I will propose a longitudinal “study” of the “diversity” of the climate within each calendar year. Our efforts will be to determine if the “diverse” patterns of Spring-Summer-Fall=Winter have consistent equity. Are some seasons longer than others? What is the impact of this lack of equity to indigenous, BIPOC, LGBTQWERTY, the poor, and people with bifocals.

This “study” will have to be funded in perpetuity since the Climate Change Spring-Summer-Fall=Winter Phenomenon occurs every year. It will also need constant funding, even cost of living raises, because my grandchildren are very lazy.

I had a professor in college that kept telling us in a couple years elephants will be able to fly once theey learn to flap their ears real fast like bees do.

Does the alarming new data have to do with climate NGO projected funding shortfalls? 🤣
