Musk says he’s disappointed in BBB saying it ‘undermines’ DOGE’s work

Tech billionaire Elon Musk — who spearheaded the cost-cutting efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — said he was “disappointed” to see the massive legislative package of Republican priorities make it through the House.

“I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit… and it undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk said in a preview of an interview set to air this weekend on “CBS Sunday Morning.”

The bill — titled the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” adopting Trump’s slogan for the measure — passed the House last Thursday after a series of last-minute negotiations and text changes that proved critical in coalescing GOP support for the legislation.

Are you listening, Freepers? You've criticized Rand and Ron Johnson non-stop for opposing this bill yet here is Musk saying it undermines DOGE

No one likes this bill particularly conservative Senators and its time Trump showed leadership and pulled it

No, you don’t pull the bill, if Trump would have done that it would not have made it out of the House, remember it was voted down in committee before negotiations took place and then it passed with changes.

You absolutely don’t pull the bill, you negotiate and make the DOGE recommendations permanent and make further cuts to places like the Defense Department, etc., the Republicans have very slim majorities in the House and Senate, it’s almost impossible to propose a single piece of legislation that pleases everyone, you compromise and get a good piece of legislation versus nothing.

I’ll try to be hopeful and say they are planning for the midterms. Don’t give the democrats anything to campaign on. But it’s probably not that…

They can still get something like srmanuel said, maybe by July 4

That sounds like a good plan...

But it takes leadership and Trump to get active on this rather than look to bully senators and try an ram this through.

And of course the cadre of Freepers who have been knocking Rand and Ron Johnson constantly.

Thy too will have to accept it

The truth is we don’t know where he is, the legislation got thru the House without much fanfare from Trump, I suspect Trump’s team is negotiating with key members of the Senate.

BTW, Trump is dealing with the Russia/Ukraine War, Trade Tariffs, China, Middle East War, etc., the point is Trump has a full plate of issues, we are nowhere near the Big Beautiful Bill being dead, it’s in the negotiation stage.

Yes, some things can be changed through reconciliation. And reconciliation cannot be filibustered. We’ll see.

It's a tough one to call in a debt-based monetary system.

We all want to see spending slashed like there's no tomorrow.

We want to see the massive fraud, waste, and abuse erased from our existence.

Now the problem...

If we truly do that then we will send our nation into the deepest recession it has experienced in many, many decades.

Why? Because money is based on debt. Debt is based on money.

If one destroys debt then one also destroys the money supply.

Is there an answer to this?

Yes! The last President to try (silver certificates) was assassinated.

We need to remove the debt component from our money supply. Our money should be issued by the US Treasury - NOT through Treasury (FED) auctions of debt instruments.

Will that happen?

No...

You see...the "masters (international banksters)" aren't driven by huge amounts of money.

They're driven by what it represents...

Claims on yours and mine future labor.

They are the masters. We are the slaves.

They control our futures actions and labor.

That's the truth nobody wants to face in its stark reality.

Trump went to the House and got it through committee on the second vote. I have no idea what changes and what deals were made.

I Accept your explanation but it’s frustrating. Last I heard Trump wanted to ram it through the Senate

Some good people stood up... And the flak they got on here has been non-stop in every thread for the last week !!

It’s not great even though Trump has a lot on his plate....

Yes the last I heard he was all for ramming this through and bullying wavering senators

It’s not going to happen now. That is clear math wise. So therefore you’d expect some contrition and changes.

I understand he has a lot on his plate but I dont like how he has played this and I’ve said this for the last week.

I’m just being honest with you.

DOGE is not done within the BBB. It is a separate matter.

Let’s see what happens the truth is Trump has been wedded to a this nonsense for the last week at least that’s the impression I got. Maybe I’m wrong? I know he’s a busy guy and has international crisis to deal with but still this is his signature legislation...

I’ve been one giving them flak, my contention has always been instead of running to the first microphone to proclaim you are a NO vote before the legislation has been proposed or any negotiation has been made, is just running your mouth to score political publicity points.

If you really support Trump and the MAGA agenda, you work with Trump to get a bill that can pass versus looking for ways to kill the bill, I expect that from Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski and probably Mitch McConnell, not from Rand Paul and my Senator Rick Scott.

I didn’t realize this but the plural of crisis is crises (cris-see). I knew the pronouncement but did not know it was spelt like that.

Scott said the other day it was unacceptable the bill (in current form)

So that’s that...

I’m amazed we have not heard from the WH yet. That’s my frustration on this

I appreciate the legitimate concerns of Musk and others regarding the bill. I believe that even with these concessions the vote in the House was painfully close, in a party-line 215-214 vote. I believe this indicates that Trump is essentially trading those concessions for rebuilding our military (150 Billion) and building the wall.

These are two of the security concerns that I am aware of. We don't hear the details of security briefings POTUS receives, but I believe Trump excels at prioritizing and negotiating, and that we need that wall and military funding stat.

President Trump knew he needed to build the wall and rebuild the military after Biden gutted both, so he may have planned from the start to essentially seize funds the Deep State relies on in order to trade them for it in exchange for military/wall funding now. (DOGE got Trump the 'cards' he needs to get the wall and rebuild the military).

The DOGE work doesn't get discarded - they have exposed the theft, fraud and abuse and put it before the public. The public now wants scalps, and with the courts still dirty, prosecuting those who stole these funds is held back for now, but remains documented and in reserve.

Surely President Trump wants to cut the funding for the deep state machinery that, among other crimes, shot him in the head, but he has placed the safety and security of the United States ahead of his own interests. We need the Deep State's army on the other side of the wall, and we need our military equipped to deal with them.

Perhaps the harsh comments you saw earlier were FReepers who feel that Trump deserves our trust at this point, as I cannot imagine what else he would need to do first to earn it.

Excellent post. Some people just want whatever Trump wants which is fine and shows ardent support but to then smear good people in every thread on this matter for the last week has been tough.

It’s clear the bill needs changes for me that’s been clear for a long time. I did not expect so many senators to say no so its been a lonely position (I’m used to that but it’s still annoying to take so much heat)
