A Texas Republican lawmaker, Candy Noble, has been roasted by one of her Democratic counterparts for passing what’s become known as the “Ten Commandments” bill on the Sabbath.

On Sunday (26 May), Senate Bill 10 – part of a push in Texas to increase the role of religion in schools – was moved forward, passing the house by 82-46, meaning that from September every public school classroom in Texas could be required to display the Ten Commandments.
A viral video posted on TikTok, which has been viewed more than three million times and has more than 19,000 comments, shows Texas state representative James Talarico asking representative Candy Noble, the bill’s House sponsor, “What is the Fourth Commandment?”
In Judaism, the Sabbath is a weekly day of rest and worship, observed from sunset on Friday to nightfall on Saturday. In Christianity, the Sabbath is generally observed on Sunday.
The Fourth Commandment is: “remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

Yes! You accidentally said something correct. The New Covenant is between believers and God and a covenant (look this up) is a conditional agreement between two or more parties. Saved people are part to this covenant which states " I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.".
However for the non-believers or misled denominations that make their own rules are not part of this Covenant and therefore under the condemnation of the Law.
If you excessively speed on the highway, you will be ticketed and come under the purview of law enforcement. For those compliant with the speed limit are not under the condemnation of the law.
There is nothing accidental about what I said.
That's even worse. You are openly rejecting Gods Covenant. You will NOT submit to his Will or Laws. Satan and 1/3 of the angels said the same thing. The majority of the world made the same decision. Relax! You're on the easy path.
“ You are openly rejecting Gods Covenant”
No, I am not. You are reading what was not written, at all.
I have found that the SDA here do not ( or cannot ) read for comprehension.
You obviously haven't been closely following this thread but I'll be patient with you this one time and clue you in:
1. He claimed that "the papacy" changed the Sabbath. AGAIN here is his exact quote:
"Either they are in a cult where their human leaders think they can change the 10 commandments ie the papacy.."
2. "The papacy" isn't a person, it is an office in the Church that is composed of succession of men--267 of them over 2000 years at this point. So at one point, one of these men supposedly changed the Sabbath to Sunday. My question was simple and not a "trick" question at all: If a certain Pope at a particular time made some kind of edict saying something to the effect of "From now on Saturday is no longer the Sabbath I'm changing it to Saturday", then who was that Pope and when did he make this pronouncement? Surely such a momentous announcement of change would be recorded somewhere and we would know the name of the Pope and the year and other details. In addition, there would be records of educated believers of that time being up in arms about someone changing the ten commandments. Records of Church councils and letters from the early Church Fathers are FULL of fierce controversies of people calling out heresies and even disagreeing on the slightest variation of doctrine of practice. But we have nothing about this.
I suppose it should not be surprising that you wouldn't know Church history since for the Protestant, Church history stopped at the end of the Acts of the Apostles and went into suspended animation for 1500 years until Luther invented Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide. But to be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.
I'm too old and experienced at this to get get baited into a quagmire

No, you're too stubborn and stiffnecked to follow the Word of God. Your eyes are shut and ears are stopped and you blindly follow your denomination.
That's the usual conclusion of a person that can't come up with a good answer. I could say the same about you (but I won't). Let me know when you have an honest answer to my simple question. Until then have a blessed day.
I think most (not all) of the freeper “theologians” are unable to read for comprehension, regardless of denomination or religion.
I think some of it is from having an axe to grind, often due to intolerance either by the poster or towards a poster.
Some is stupidity.
Some is different syntax or how words are defined in different denominations or schools of thought. I think this is especially true in religious discussions.
And some is because of how Freerepublic threads lay out. A post responding to some other post can easily be read as responsive to some middle post (or vice versa). I admit to making this error with some frequency.
#1 There may not have been an official Pope at this time.
#2Why would they be proud of going against Scripture and be held accountable later? This kind of skullduggery is best done under the cloak of darkness.
There are lots of ‘laws’ that apply to Jews in the Old Testament that don’t apply to Christians under the New Testament.
You know that...
This isn’t a cafeteria where we pick and choose what we want to believe.
Old testament laws that are mentioned in the New Testament are brought over and are to be observed - and yes, that includes the Ten Commandments.
When Jesus died on the cross, HIS testament went into effect. Laws that were not carried over - (mentioned in the New Testament) were dropped. It’s why we can eat pork and shellfish etc, and Jews (bound by the Old Testament) can’t. Lots of differences...
What the heck is an "unofficial Pope" and why on earth would people obey one?

I'm talking about people in the Church (other bishops, theologians, scholars and others) that would have been howling in outrage if some bishop in Rome deigned to change the ten commandments. We have thousands of writings from this period of the Church from the Church Fathers who were up in arms (sometimes quite literally) if anyone dared to teach a new doctrine, but here we have not a peep of objection from anyone.
The law of Moses was abolished on the Cross. It was a shadow and ceremonial laws pointing to the coming Messiah but now that He has come, it has expired. That just leaves the Law of God. The Ten Commandments. The one the Bible calls holy, perfect and eternal. ut-oh. I see a problem. God wants us to worship on the day He has designated. The Sabbath. Who does God think He is anyways, our Creator?
If ye love Me, keep My Commandments" seems pretty definite to me. How about you? Are you squirming for a loophole?
“So remember the sabbath and keep it holy means we shouldn’t work at all?”
The command God gave to Israel not to work on the Sabbath was a sign of the Sinaitic Covenant, as circumcision was the sign of the Abrahamic Covenant, and the rainbow was the sign of the Noahide Covenant.
Under the New Covenant, these signs represent a spiritual principle. The original Sabbath was a commemoration of God as Creator and Redeemer. He made everything in six days and rested on the seventh day. He also redeemed Israel from bondage by rescuing them from slavery in Egypt and giving them this special rest. He provided for them so that they were able to take time to rest and honor Him.
The Sabbath foreshadowed Christ as the Head of a New Creation and Redeemer. When Christ completed the work of atonement on the cross, He declared, “It is finished!” This signified that the work of redemption had been accomplished and the debt of mankind’s sins had been paid in full.
The Sabbath speaks of Christ’s finished work on the cross, after which He rested in the grave until the following Sunday when He rose from the dead and became the Head of a New Creation.
Trusting in Christ for salvation means accepting His finished work and resting in Him. But being His disciple also means working. It means serving under His leadership.
So, in answer to your question, followers of Christ are supposed to always be resting in Him, even when working very hard.
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Feel free not to read them.
Other individuals who are more literate and interested in self-improvement may find the information useful.
I’ve had people tell me so by FR mail.
So, for your future reference, if you don’t want to know something, don’t ask, and don’t complain when answered.
I was too polite to say so in your first post to me, but it was illogical in the first place.
But if it makes you feel special and important, then by all means, post snarky, nonsensical questions, and then post ridiculous complaints to the replies.
After all, FR is just for you, right?
“unless you get off on being ridiculed.”
I don’t mind. Be sure that if you dish it out, you can also take it. Wanted or not, here’s my advice. Before giving someone a piece of your mind, make sure you have some to spare. That’s certainly questionable in this instance.
