On Sunday (26 May), Senate Bill 10 – part of a push in Texas to increase the role of religion in schools – was moved forward, passing the house by 82-46, meaning that from September every public school classroom in Texas could be required to display the Ten Commandments.
A viral video posted on TikTok, which has been viewed more than three million times and has more than 19,000 comments, shows Texas state representative James Talarico asking representative Candy Noble, the bill’s House sponsor, “What is the Fourth Commandment?”
In Judaism, the Sabbath is a weekly day of rest and worship, observed from sunset on Friday to nightfall on Saturday. In Christianity, the Sabbath is generally observed on Sunday.
The Fourth Commandment is: “remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

That complainer is probably someone who has always been against the Bible being taught in schools anyway.
This is just her latest slam against the process.
Semantics and faux rage.
“In Christianity, the Sabbath is generally observed on Sunday.”
That’s a poor summary of the various views.
In Christianity, the Sabbath is about Jesus, according to the Bible.
Why do the heathen rage?

Not to put too fine a point on it but Sunday is not the Sabbath.
Sunday is the first day of the week, not the seventh.

Looks to me like he has her cornered and sweating. How bout you?

Agree. Is there a text where God edited the 10 commandments and transferred what he made holy in Genesis, the 7th day, to the 1st day? I cannot seem to find that text where God or Jesus, (same thing) transferred the solemnity of the seventh day to the first day? And a lunch don’t count.
Asking for a friend. Thank you.
They’re under the control of their father satan.
____Nope, no text that makes Sun god Day the Sabbath. It’s still the same. That’s the one Commandment God said “Remember” because He knew Satan would deceive the world and they would unlearn it.___
yeah, but he’s pointing out their own hypocrisy. Here they are demanding the 10 commandments be posted and yet they are working on BOTH the “jewish” Sabbath (you and I know it’s the Bible Sabbath) and they are working on the “Christian” Sabbath, their Sabbath.
So he has them coming and going. In fact, he is making the same point I have been making all this time. Sunday keepers don’t even keep Sunday!!
As you know, with few exceptions, evangelicals today don’t even keep Sunday the way Protestants used to. And that is what he is exposing here. It’s ironic....a Democrat is exposing what I have been saying for a long time here.
Irony of Ironies.....well, as the guy said in Goodfellas...”that’s how i see it “......who was that..the old guy...Remo Gaggi.
There need to be refundable tax credits that cover the cost of tuition / fees / supplies at private schools.
While Jesus and most of his early followers, being Jews, observed the Biblical Sabbath (the only question being, as with Jewish people today, the details of just how this was to be done), Jewish religious law does not even attempt to expect Christians to observe the Sabbath.
Most Christian churches have followed the lead of second-century Ignatius of Antioch in switching over to “Lord’s Day” on Sundays instead of the Sabbath. Many refer to this as the “Christian Sabbath,” but of course it is on hothe first day of the week instead of the 7th “day of rest.”
While I haven’t personally counted them, there are a number of Christian churches that do observe the Sabbath (there are supposed to be over 500 Sabbath-keeping denominations including the most prominent SDA Seventh-Day Adventist Church and its many offshoots, but also some Baptists, some Pentacostals, and a number of other mostly smaller Protestant denominations).
At any event, I think that the criticisms were perhaps a bit unnecessary?

So a church can change the 10 commandments? Just seeking clarity. Thank you.
Jewish religious law does not even attempt to expect Christians to observe the Sabbath.
I don't even know what that sentence is supposed to mean. We are not to be concerned about religious leaders, we are supposed to be concerned on what God wants. He has clearly put that in writing. With the Creation of the earth He established it. When He walked the earth He lived it. And it will remain that way until Heaven and earth disappear IF we are to believe what He said.
Yes it is. Absolutely.
‘ In Christianity, the Sabbath is about Jesus, according to the Bible.’
So remember the sabbath and keep it holy means we shouldn’t work at all?
That is correct. Christians do not celebrate the Sabbath, since it was given by God to Jews as part of their religious ceremonial law, not binding on anybody but the Jews. The other nine commandments are in accord with the natural law and so are binding on all men for all time. The principle of keeping a day holy to God is still binding on all men, but it is not required to be the Jewish Sabbath. Christians from the first days of the Church thus established the Lords Day (Sunday) to satisfy this commandment.

Hi
I was merely reporting a fact of history. It was not a polemic or apologistic statement.
I respect that your church is one of those that follow the Biblical Sabbath.
