A Texas Republican lawmaker, Candy Noble, has been roasted by one of her Democratic counterparts for passing what’s become known as the “Ten Commandments” bill on the Sabbath.

On Sunday (26 May), Senate Bill 10 – part of a push in Texas to increase the role of religion in schools – was moved forward, passing the house by 82-46, meaning that from September every public school classroom in Texas could be required to display the Ten Commandments.
A viral video posted on TikTok, which has been viewed more than three million times and has more than 19,000 comments, shows Texas state representative James Talarico asking representative Candy Noble, the bill’s House sponsor, “What is the Fourth Commandment?”
In Judaism, the Sabbath is a weekly day of rest and worship, observed from sunset on Friday to nightfall on Saturday. In Christianity, the Sabbath is generally observed on Sunday.
The Fourth Commandment is: “remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

____Hi
I was merely reporting a fact of history. It was not a polemic or apologistic statement.
I respect that your church is one of those that follow the Biblical Sabbath.___
Thanks for the clarification. And yes, you had it right with your history. I admire that. Most here do not. Thank you.....
We’re not bound by Old Testament Laws...
God gave you free will. I suppose you are not bound by any laws if that is what you choose.
Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Mark 2:27
This released people from the many strict rules among Jews to be followed on the Sabbath.
____Is it not lawful to do good on the Sabbath?____
Actually, that is what the holy seventh day Sabbath is for. Jesus restored what the holy seventh day of rest that he ordained at creation was all about. A day made for man.
And he went out of his way to do miracles of healing on the holy seventh day. So yes, it is lawful to do good on the holy seventh day. And of course there is no detailed extensive list in the Bible of what we can and cannot do. But we do have examples and that includes the Bible calls the 6th day, Friday, the “preparation day.” And in the old testament, Jesus performed a miracle each week for 40 years giving them twice their food on the 6th day so they wouldn’t have to go out and gather it on the holy seventh day.
But Jesus never changed the holy seventh day and he never abolished it. He simply threw out the bathwater but not the baby.
And no church or council or Pope or committee can change or tamper with what God made holy at creation.....long before any Jew was around.
Anyone who claims the holy seventh day is Jewish apparently can’t read Genesis chapter where God made the seventh day holy. And later Jesus said was made for man.
Either they are in a cult where their human leaders think they can change the 10 commandments ie the papacy.....or they in most cases threw the baby out with the bathwater.
That is what this Democrat is showing......their hypocrisy. She has to admit.......he was right in fact.
___Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Mark 2:27
This released people from the many strict rules among Jews to be followed on the Sabbath.___
Yep, agree. But he never threw the baby out with the bathwater. John sees the 10 commandments in his heavenly vision (Revelation 11:19) and of course in Acts 13, the gentiles ask Paul to come out “next sabbath” so they can hear more of what he is preaching.
Isaiah 66 even says when God recreates this earth, ALL FLESH will worship him “from Sabbath unto Sabbath”..so much for the Sabbaht being Jewish. that’s like saying don’t kill is Jewish, or steal, or lie.....
It’s really weak Bible scholarship......if you ask me.
___We’re not bound by Old Testament Laws...___
Right, you are what I call “9 commandmenters”...you use the term “law” to get rid of the Sabbath. But if I come and take your car, suddenly, you have laws again.
The 10 commandments are seen by John in Revelation....but since most of you evangelicals don’t read Revelation, of course your very confused on the Moral law and the Mosaic ceremonial laws. This is very typical.
Either they are in a cult where their human leaders think they can change the 10 commandments ie the papacy.....or they in most cases threw the baby out with the bathwater.
Just can't go day without anti-Catholicism, can you? Show me an historical source or in Church teaching where a Pope changed the Sabbath.
__Hi
I was merely reporting a fact of history about Ignatius of Antioch. . It was not a polemic or apologistic statement.m
Sorry if any confusion.
Best regards

___Just can’t go day without anti-Catholicism, can you? Show me an historical source or in Church teaching where a Pope changed the Sabbath.___
Who else changed it. Nobody in the Bible did. I suggest you read Rome’s Challenge. Did you not read it? It was put out by your own church.
And it’s brilliant. Also in Canon 29 of the council of Laodecia, your church said anyone who rests on the seventh day is Anathema from Christ.
See, your church hates the Sabbath and those who keep it. Because it exposes you. It identifies your church as the great false counterfeit. The change of the Sabbath was predicted. The only text that shows the Sabbath was to be changed is the prophecy that the AntiChrist would change it!!
Is’nt that ironic. Daniel 7:25.
anyways, here is Rome’s Challenge to Protestants. it’s brilliant and I applaud your church for producing it.......and she says there’s not a text in the Bible that changes it......she says SHE CHANGED IT and it was done because she has the power to do it. The authority. When you think you are the “vicar of Christ” on earth.......yeah, you can do pretty much anything you want........and she has and she will again.....

That is correct. The rabbis implemented a meticulous set of man made rules for the Sabbath that were never meant to happen. They made the Sabbath of more importance than man himself. According to their logic God created man to observe a Sabbath He created instead of it a time for man to commune with Him. They emphasized the negative aspects of the Sabbath observance of restraining people which negated the positive outcome of continued refreshment from meditating on God and the blessing He has bestowed upon us.
In verse 28 He circles it back to the Author Who determines what is appropriate and what is not. That was Himself not the rabbis. The Sabbath was to fulfill a human need and not the power trip of religious leaders.
No confusion. No problem with history, sad or not. I wish you the best.
RE: It’s really weak Bible scholarship......if you ask me.
Do you mean my Bible scholarship is weak?
You work on the Sabbath. Why shouldn’t the Texas Legislature?
#1 In 321 AD, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued an edict mandating a day of rest on Sunday, which he termed "the venerable day of the sun." This decree, while reflecting his Christian beliefs and aligning with the Roman worship of the sun god. He did this with close collaboration of Bishop Eusebius. cited in the "Commentary on the Apocalypse" Moses Stuart Vol. 2 9, 40. Andover, Merrill and Wardwell 1845.
#2 See A Doctrinal Catechism by Rev. Stephen Keenan p. 174 claiming Romes authority to change the Sabbath to Sunday
#3 Dr. Butlers Catechism Revised p. 57 More Rome has authority to change Sabbath to Sunday.
Sabbath observance was still going on in AD 364 proved by the fact that the Church Council of Laodicea forbade the observance of the Biblical Sabbath.
Democrats are the party of abortion, faggotry, blasphemy, envy, and theft. Their party platform is the Seven Deadly Sins.
Jesus never once said to worship on a Sabbath. He did away with the law of Moses.
You didn't answer my question. Such a momentous decision as a Pope ordering the Sabbath to be changed to Sunday. should be easy to find a solid source. If you can't back up such a serious charge, you shouldn't make it, and in all honesty retract it.
Your assertion is a smidgeon of fact with a huge admixture of error and distortion. By this time, the Sunday Lord's Day was well established by Christians, in fact, from New Testament times. Constantine issued his edict (a civil one, not a religious one from the Church or a Pope) as a means to keep unity in his empire by making Sunday the Lord's day a civil law. This was done to combat, among other things, the Sol Invictus cult, not to complement it.
