GILBERT, AZ — A man has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing a landscaper hired to do work on a rental property.
Just after 4:30 p.m. Monday, Gilbert police were alerted about an argument between two men. While on the way to the location, near Power and Germann roads, officers were informed that a shooting had occurred.
Officials say when officers arrived, they located a victim, identified as 51-year-old Manuel Vega Lopez, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged shooter, identified as 28-year-old Wyatt Ford, was taken into custody by police.
According to a police report, just before the shooting, Ford's wife called police and reported her husband was outside confronting a man they believed was involved in a prior incident of attempting to steal from and vandalize their trailer.

Wyatt did you do that?
landlord charged with second-degree murder
Apparently it showed in his preference for renters.
If only people were content to mow their lawns and pay their rent..
The article makes me suspicious.
They are playing up the bleeding heart aspect of the deceased way too much, like he was Jesus Himself.

One little comma would fix it.
Let’s eat Grandma!
Let’s eat, Grandma!
Commas save lives.
Okay, diagram THAT sentence.
Gilbert is close to me. It is mostly new upscale.
Power and Germann roads the landscaper should have known not to press his luck.
Don’t mean to hijack the thread, but what’s going on with the Gilbert Goons? Especially the real bad kid, the son of the rich guy. Any update?
The deceased may have been involved in theft at that location earlier. Yhat needs to be investigated as well.
That’s a point. The landscaper may have really been the one stealing from the trailer.
However, you can’t legally shoot someone because he previously stole from you.
Unfortunately, we have a lot of landscapers around here.
Lots of these landscapers help themselves to the property on premises.
One needs to be careful to select the honest one!

Amen. I have FOUR ads in for a beautifully rehabbed apartment at just under market rent.
I’m getting either no responses or responses from people who are:
1. serial evictoids for non payment/bad tenant behavior
2. criminals
3. drama laded with baby daddy drama/police calls
4. bat guano crazy (with buzz words of the day...”black mold” and “ESA”)
5. deadbeat druggies with zero real income
6. “kids” (early thirties to forties) moving out of parents home for the FIRST time with
parents arranging it—ZERO rental history.
7. entitled subsidized tenants (which usually include the above mentioned “qualities” of 1-5)
Local attorney group advised landlords NOT to have other tenants call in noise complaints to the police as that may be “violating the rights” of domestic abuse victims! I kid you not! (upstate NY)
I paid a decent seeming, articulate white man to help me. I would have rented to him in a heartbeat. He did an awesome job. He thanked me and, apparently, bought drugs. His landlord told me he nailed the front and back doors shut and then crawled out a back window because someone was after him. It must have been some high as he was found living in a dumpster totally brain fryed. I suspect drugs.
