America's most popular shoe is coming back to Amazon.
After a five-year hiatus, Nike shoes, clothing, and accessories are returning to the e-commerce giant.
The athletic brand swiped its products from the platform in 2019, as part of a push to sell more directly to consumers.
Consumer interest has slumped, with sales dropping a staggering 9 percent in March, amid increased running shoe competition.
Hoka, Brooks, and Saucony are all gaining sales in the athletic sneaker industry after spending millions of dollars on branding deals with running clubs and community events.
Nike, which has cut back on small-scale sponsorships, has been shedding market share to the upstart competitors.
To minimize the losses, Nike is reinvesting in its corporate relationships. It has also announced a deal with French department chain Printemps and a pop-up agreement with Urban Outfitters.
But social headwinds persist against its US sales: the company is facing backlash from American conservatives that have criticized its marketing campaigns as 'woke.'
Nike has gone through a wave of changes as it hopes to recapture market dominance.
In September 2024, the shoemaker announced that Elliot Hill would be taking over as the new CEO. Hill started with the company as an intern in 1988.

Actually, I think this article confirms that these “national brands” are rip-offs and people easily find suitable replacements at better prices when given the choices.

I feel the same way. But it’s not just NIKE, it’s the NFL, which is why I don’t buy NIKE products, and I haven’t watched an NFL football game since their distinctly unpatriotic members started kneeling during the National anthem and the NFL corporate leadership was either too scared to confront them, or more likely, agreed with the kneelers. I have to shake my head when I see working men lining up to watch games played by many who hate them and lead by men who despise the USA and patriotic flag waving working people.
Old buddy of mine was a wig with NIKE. Learned things from him that caused me to not ever buy NIKE. Hardly ever wore what he gifted my family and I.

Well the one’s I’m wearing clearly say on the tongue label “MADE IN THE USA”. I specifically bought them because I wanted to buy American instead of Chinese made shoes.
Nope. You can see the resizing of their (New Balance) shoes in the same style but between V1 and V2 of that shoe. They are narrower in the toes, and it is not subtle, at least in the styles of their shoes I like.
I still wear my Joe Lapchick sneakers I bought at Kinney’s shoes.
WHO IN THE HELL wants to spend that much money on a pair of shoes made in communist China with child labor!! People ARE waking up!!!
