National Employment Law Project reported that over 50% of fast-food workers experienced verbal abuse, and more than a third reported violence like threats, racial slurs, or even assault.
A report by the UCLA Labor Center indicated that 43% of workers experienced workplace injury or illness, including assault.

Another....
from 911 call logs obtained through public records requests, focusing specifically on calls made from McDonald’s, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., and Jack-in-the-Box locations in California’s nine most populous cities. Between 2017 and 2020, the analysis found, these fast food restaurants were the sites of at least 77,000 violent or threatening incidents.

I used to see the incoming issues of Nation’s Restaurant News at my library.
One story showed a dead food worker strapped to a gurney being carried out.
The story said most people say a race car driver or an astronaut knows the danger of death and has to face it, but in reality far more food service employees are killed or seriously injured each year than both supposed high risk professions.

Personal. When I was 20 I got a job delivering pizzas in Detroit from an independent, family owned place (there were no chains then). The job opened up because the last guy had been held up with a knife to his throat and he couldn’t take the stress after that.

-The story said most people say a race car driver or an astronaut knows the danger of death and has to face it, but in reality far more food service employees are killed or seriously injured each year than both supposed high risk professions.-

In reality there are millions of food service employees where there are a few thousands of race car drivers and hundreds of astronauts so of course far more food service employees are killed or seriously injured each year.
