Surgeon, 63, blows up his gilded existence with idiotic mid-life crisis that left beautiful young woman dead

A middle-aged Nebraska surgeon ruined his enviable life after deciding to take part in a street-racing contest that left a 22 year-old woman dead.

Mark Carlson, 63, was sentenced to 10-14 years in prison after he was convicted of the manslaughter killing of Anna Bosma in September, 2023.

The thrillseeking medic was racing another driver when he lost control of his Mercedes and slammed head-on into Bosma's car at over 100mph, killing her on impact.

Bosma's boyfriend was in the passenger seat and survived the deadly collision.

The couple, who lived in South Dakota, was in Omaha for a Labor Day getaway when tragedy struck.

Carlson was the director of the Center for Advanced Surgical Technology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center before the crash.

He was married to a respected lawyer, Sarah Gloden, who is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Creighton University School of Law.

But the two separated sometime after the tragedy, with Gloden keeping their $880,000 mansion, where she now lives with her sons.

Carlson apologized to Bosma's family during his sentencing on Thursday.

'I now want to apologize to Anna’s parents, family, friends and community for her death,' he told the court.

'I am sorry for the lateness of this apology, which comes 21 months after Anna’s passing. I would give anything to change the events of Sept. 1, 2023.'

Carlson's lawyers had claimed that he had fainted before the crash and the car's lane-assist technology kept him on the road while speeding.

However, an engineer testified that the lane-assist was turned off in the car, as reported by First Alert 6.

If you kill someone street racing, it should be an automatic death penalty.

In most states, if he had been on a legal alien, he would’ve been kicked free

He would do anything to change the events? Too late for that. Maybe his 10-14 years (not nearly long enough) will give him time to figure out how to stop being an irresponsible, entitled putz while his victim lies in her grave.

I hope he’s in with the regular population and “enjoys” every aspect of prison life every day of his sentence. I feel like it’s not long enough and that he got off easy. Not near enough time for taking someone’s life.

“Mark Carlson, 63, was sentenced to 10-14 years in prison after he was convicted of the manslaughter killing of Anna Bosma in September, 2023.” Better to keep it in your pants Dr.

Think about it - this guy has probably been someone's surgeon; maybe many someones.

(Do you know what YOUR doctor is doing tonight?)

He may get 20 years in, while the man he was racing only gets 6 months, and even that ‘on probation’! The surgeon deserves what he was sentenced , but he’s probably thinking he chose the wrong lawyer.

His skills as a surgeon are quite valuable. Have him work in a hospital with most of his wages given to the deceased’s family and a very minor portion to his family. After work he does not go home but back to jail until the next morning until his sentenced is served.

There are perfectly good tracks all over the country. Join your local enthusiast club (I was a BMW CCA member in my twenties and early thirties) and sign up for track events and autocross classes. They teach people skills that might let them actually use the vast capacity of today's sports cars and they won't kill innocent drivers who didn't ask to be involved in some idiotic amateur race on a public road.

The moron in question deserves serious prison time.

#3: "In most states, if he had been on a legal alien, he would’ve been kicked free."

In blue states the judges offer concierge service to the rear exit for illegal aliens.

The article doesn’t make mention of anyone else being in his car with him.

Or are you saying he was doing something else?

🤮
