Why does Mike Johnson have POTUS Trump "whipping" votes?

Steve Bannon: “I got a problem. And it’s not with Andy Harris. Here’s what I’ve got a PROBLEM with…JOHNSON should not put the President of the United States in this situation…the President of the United States should not have to come to Capitol Hill…and have to WHIP VOTES…Johnson, in these rooms, tells everyone what they want to hear. That’s why people CAN’T STAND HIM…”

I don’t know what Bannon is complaining about. With a narrow majority in the House, every GOP member of Congress has outsized influence over the floor votes.

Stop treating Johnson as if his situation is no different than Paul Ryan’s when the GOP had a huge majority after 2014.

“Now’s he’s mad Trump may be getting his way,”

That’s baloney.

If you watched Bannon’s show this morning you know he was frustrated with Johnson - but in the same breath he expressed great admiration for President Trump for being willing and able to make up for Johnson’s shortcomings.

We have Johnson because the House Republican pantywaists refused to support Jim Jordan.

Johnson is the embodiment, overall, of the Republican party. They elected him. You can’t criticize him as separate from the body.

Republicans don’t want a leader that requires them to take definite positions that can possibly be used against them in the next election.

Republicans are more afraid of their voters. Democrats are more afraid of their party.

I suspect Mike Johnson of being nothing more than a snitch for his own good he doesn’t have the brains to climb up the power ladder.

Well said. We cannot let perfect be the enemy of good. Too much on the line in 2026. Democrats are on the floor, this is no time to give them a hand.

Reagan did. In his 82 budget bill he called over 80 congressmen.

"Republicans are more afraid of their voters."

If they actually were, they wouldn't be such losers. Congressional Republicans have been useless for decades.
