Why does Mike Johnson have POTUS Trump "whipping" votes?

Steve Bannon: “I got a problem. And it’s not with Andy Harris. Here’s what I’ve got a PROBLEM with…JOHNSON should not put the President of the United States in this situation…the President of the United States should not have to come to Capitol Hill…and have to WHIP VOTES…Johnson, in these rooms, tells everyone what they want to hear. That’s why people CAN’T STAND HIM…”

It is not the responsibility of the POTUS to whip the Congress for action. Does SCOTUS call POTUS is for motivation?

DC is obviously a popularity contest and those who protect the status quo are obviously the most popular.

Greedy Ba$7ar#$!!

Because Donald is a one man party and he is to deal with far more two faced individuals then the Democratic Party ever has to.

He's dealing with the UK's version of the Tories.

Johnson is who he is.

If it takes Trump to whip the votes to get the bill passed—then that’s the best use of his time.

That bill is what will make or break the republicans in 2026.

So yeah, making it happen is worth Trump’s time.

Does anyone have buyers remorse?

Maybe that’s not the right term. But remember we ended up with Mike Johnson,, because everyone was so eager to get rid of Kevin McCarthy.

At the time we were told Mike Johnson was a solid conservative. So he was supposed to be a great replacement for the RINO McCarthy.

Sad how often this happens. One would start to believe that it’s intentional.

Trump has no problem helping out. There are enough serious things out there for Bannon to get upset about. This is not one of them. The end result is what matters. What would be upsetting would be if Johnson needed Trump’s help to close the deal but DIDN’T ask for his help.

We ended up with Johnson because Republicans have their heads up their asses. McCarthy was a POS too.

First time I saw a picture of Johnson, I knew he was a wuss.

He hasn’t improved.

We have the illusion of a two party adversarial system, it is actually one big party.

This entire Big Ugly Bill should be scrapped. The GOP Whig Party is conning us. This sucks so bad. The spending will destroy our children’s futures. 😰

Agreed.

But figures like Bannon have to stir up controversy somewhere. Now’s he’s mad Trump may be getting his way, so he’s going to attack “the process” by which he was successful?

Exactly. Johnson is actually a good fit at Speaker right now. We don’t need the Speaker to be the leader of the GOP, as was the case in 1994 when Gingrich was Speaker. That was a different time. The Democrats held the presidency and the GOP Congress needed someone like Gingrich to lead the resistance. Today’s situation is totally different. The party has a leader and his name is Donald Trump.

What we need in Congress now is a Speaker who’s following Trump’s lead and enacting his agenda, and that’s exactly what Johnson’s doing. And the fact that he’s managed it so far with such a slim GOP majority in the House is to his credit.

By this point, I’m thinking Trump likes weak and weaselly congressional leaders.
