She was the "real" winner? No - he won. Everyone witnessed it. The judges declared it. He took the winner's spot on the podium. She took the second place spot on the podium.
And then afterwards, the play-actress pretended she was the "real" winner. The same coward adults who didn't pull the plug on the whole fiasco then cheered because it made them feel better about having failed to protect the girls from such perverse ideology.
Just call it. No simpering "Look, she's taken the top step of podium. She's the real winner."

They are too afraid to take preemptive actions, instead, use the excuse of not letting the team down, setting an example...A more impactful example of strength and perseverance would’ve been to refuse to play along with the illusion.
Nope. This is on the admins and coaches not the individuals. They've only been training for years. Some on the road to athletic scholarships. They should just lay down and look for something else to do?

Like sheep, they keep telling themselves that. Meanwhile the dude who won walks away with the scholarship. The girls learn cheaters win and that their parents are cowards.

What’s with podiums now at every level of sports competition? Seems kind of like holding formal graduations down to kindergarten.
It's sad to see but yeah, they were put in use to keep up with the spread of cell phone cameras.
