A new book revealed that aides to Kamala Harris secretly planned for the possibility of Joe Biden's death in office as early as 2023, further fueling concerns over the former president's age and fitness for office.

Questions about Biden's ability to serve another term grew throughout his presidency, with critics pointing to his advanced age and moments of confusion. Despite mounting concerns, Biden and his team insisted he was fit for re-election.

However, behind closed doors, Democratic officials reportedly held secret discussions about contingency plans in case Biden had to withdraw or was unable to complete his term, the Guardian reported.

Harris' aides went even further, developing a strategy in case of Biden's death, including a "death-pool roster" of federal judges who could swear her in, according to "Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House," a forthcoming book by journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes. The book paints a picture of a Democratic Party bracing for worst-case scenarios while publicly backing Biden.

According to the book, the tipping point came on June 27, 2024, during a disastrous debate performance against now-President Donald Trump, which intensified calls for Biden to step down. After weeks of pressure from party leaders, Biden ultimately withdrew in July, leaving Harris as the nominee—though she later lost the general election to Trump.

Harris’s handlers would have been negligent NOT to plan for Biden’s passing, and what in heck they would do with Kamala as President. If they only started in 2022, shame on them.

I am astounded she had contingency plans in case she had to take over. One thing that drove me crazy during the election was that she seemed to never have thought about what she would do as President: she had her piddling little unhelpful plans and that was it.

But it turns out at least her staff was on top of that.
