Dave Portnoy just handed out one of his highest pizza ratings ever to a newly opened pizzeria in Little Italy – which is now causing impatient lines and sold-out pies.
The Barstool Sports founder is known for his viral — not to mention controversial — one-bite pizza reviews. And he recently gave Ceres — a three-month-old-or-so pizzeria at 164 Mott St. run by two former Eleven Madison Park chefs, Jake Serebnick and Julian Geldmacher — a whopping 9.2 out of 10 score.
Portnoy showered it with praise, calling it “spectacular” and “must-have, top-of-the-list Manhattan pizza … as good as it gets.”
Does he have a new NYC favorite? That glory at least puts it thin-crust close to a trio of his fight-inducing, top-tier Gotham greats Portnoy revealed to The Post last fall: “John’s of Bleecker, Lucali and Luigi’s. Those would be three that are all up there.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Looks more like New Haven style pizza - less cheese and charred - than the NY variety.
Portnoy is a phag.
John’s on Bleeker Street is the best I’ve had.
Isn’t this pizza place in Tribeca?
I like charred but less cheese is NEVER the answer.
As I like to say, two words should never be used in front of cheese and those two words are “too much”...
Too much cheese can never happen...
40 dollars for a whole pizza. Stupid.
Huh? What your talkin’ bout?
Where the pizza shop in the article is
$6 a slice for bread, and tiny amounts of cheese and sauce. Massive profit margin.
It looks like your typical total crap Italian pizza. Very thin crust with some food coloring sprinkled on top. No thanks. I grew up with Thick crust, Thick Gooey cheese, Good layer of tomato sauce, and juicy toppings. Which is very hard to find now. But nothing else satisfies.
Ceres $9 slice.

Yeah, having just made a home made pizza last night which the wife complained was too cheesy (is that possible?) This pizza looks like it has just a smidgen of finely grated hard cheese. Undoubtedly a great sauce and crust to pull off that rating.
Barf.
I would never buy pizza with a tiny amount of cheese...
I was just about to inquire if pineapple was one of the toppings offered at Ceres. If it’s not, I’m not going.
One of the many lessons of life I have learned is “Better is the enemy of good. I’ve eaten pizza of all types all over the world and now I stick with Costo Pepperoni. It’s good and it’s $9.95 a pie.
