As much as coffeeholic sounds nice, it may never be that nice really. Did you believe that? Maybe not!
Coffeeholic is a simple term to express a lover of coffee or as most dictionaries have it, it’s being a coffee addict. As much as we have workaholic and shopaholic to be friendlier than their opposite, so also is being coffeeholic. By being a coffeeholic, it means you have no other alternative to coffee.
As a coffeeholic, know your coffees

In your observation, do most of Japan’s Starbucks customers actually drink coffee, or do the majority order tea?

In my retirement years, my two addictions have merged: coffeeholism and chocoholism. Can’t have coffee without a side of dark chocolate.

Never drank it until a couple of years ago, when my adult son got me to start. Make it at home; don’t yet love it enough to pay big money for it.

    Hey Albion,
Well, I think the menu of drinks suggests that coffee, including coffee latte and frappuccino is the vast majority of the business.
When I've been with Japanese friends to Starbucks, most get a coffee drink.  And when you go to either a Western or Japanese style restaurant, coffee is often sold with a dessert to finish off the meal (about 500 yen).
Check out the menu (click on the pic to see full screen).
Now one favorite of mine is their matcha tea latte (made from green tea powder and milk).
I mentioned Starbucks, but there's also a good homegrown coffee shop called Tully's that I like too.

I don't recall having coffee jelly, but my Japanese wife who's good in the kitchen has never prepared it because she's not a fan of coffee :-(
But it looks might good.

"Here in Japan, a Starbucks café coming to town is seen as a sign of urban sophistication"
Japan was always 30 years behind the "fashion" (not only clothes, but everything else too).. until the mobile came out.
I remember ALL the phases of those, and they were all a decade before the mobile going to the USA.
Poco, I remember something that was called PHS, (Pocket something or other) which is the first I got (it was a Kenwood).. dirt cheat at the time, no connection over 15KM/hr.. no connection underground..
The size was about something we could get out of a Cracker-Jacks box ..
Ended up with a Sony DoCoMo.. and if I was back there again, would go straight back to it.

What do you think of those 3 hot girls behind me? (I can still remember wiping the tear off of Kanoko's (far left.. shortest girl) face when she was leaving the classroom for the last time...) She was probably the quietest student... EVER.... She made sure that she was the last student.. she almost couldn't speak.. and said, "you were the best English teacher, ever"....
I will live with that nightmare forever... (BTW, all 3 of those girls should be about 30 years old. by now)...
