The Babylon Bee’s caption for that was something like “Letitia James paints herself bronze and stands very still in Times Square to try to hide from the DOJ”

The video speaks for itself. She should have followed police instructions. And she definitely should not have driven without getting unambiguous permission to leave the scene by the otficer. The tape was put there to establish a pedestrian area, such as that baby stroller, for people to be safe and she was specifically instructed to not drive there. Its good that nobody was seriously hurt.

There had to be some other alternate detour to get where she was going however inconvenient that would’ve been. She could have taken a photo and called her work with the explanation why she would be late.

There used to be a shared parking situation in Eugene, OR. It worked out pretty well, from 9-5...my favorite fly-fishing shop was in there, and I went frequently. One of the businesses sharing the lot was Alberto Salazaar’s restaurant, The Electric Station. They got a pretty big night crowd, and he could be pretty autocratic, roping things off with cables. One time, a future girlfriend of mine came bombing up her driveway, a 55 gallon drum bouncing around in the bed of her truck. She got out, and tossed the barrel out. Everyone’s looking at her, asking “What’s up?” She told us The Electric Station locked the barrel to her truck because she’d gotten held up at some business ‘til after 5, so she axed the cable, and took their barrel.

I remember a lawyer telling about the time he fought a illegal parking ticket because “it was the principle damn it”.

He had parked in an area that between seven pm and seven am there was free parking. He got there after 7:00p but before 7:30 which means that the parking was free. There was a sign up and everything. He went to his event and came back around midnight and his car had been ticketed for parking in a restricted area. Turns out that after 7:30 a local restaurant used that area as their overflow parking area. Had signs up and everything. For use only by customers. So the local cop ticketed his car.

The ticket was for like ten bucks but he was miffed enough to show up in court. The local cop and the restaurant had an agreement but, there was no agreement with the city or anyone official. Ticket was dismissed, cop was in hot water and the restaurant was told they could use the area but, it was not theirs exclusively and got fined for, I think it was, unlawful taking.

She could have taken a photo and called her work with the explanation why she would be late.

That probably never occurred to her, much less to have planned ahead knowing there would be a street fair near her house that day.

It’s lucky she wasn’t shot dead. She’s lucky AND the cop is lucky.

"Why is this thing still up? What is the explanation around how it came to be? What bureaucrat issued the permit? What commission approved it? Who paid for it?"

Good questions.

45 Communist Goals as revealed by Dr. Cleon Skousen in The Naked Communist, written in 1958 and read into the Congressional Record in 1963. (Rules #22, and 23):

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.” (CHECK. Look around. How many sculptures do you look at and ask, what the heck is that supposed to be?)

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

“Or did they block off the only way in or out of a parking area?

Which would be kind of dangerous.”
I was working on 42nd street NYC on New Years Eve. I stayed until about 4pm. When I got to my parking garage, there were about 10 cars trying to get out but every street was blocked (I was at 8th Ave and 47th). The manager of the garage got a cop to temporarily open all the barriers so we could get out. It is common sense to have a way to temporarily, and safely, allow people to, for example, get out of their home or garage and get where they need to go, like a doctor’s appointment, surgery, emergency, and lots of other things like getting food and going to work. Public event planning can’t put people in a prison. The cop should have “facilitated” her exit. Just standing there saying “no M’am”is BS.

I disagree. If someone lives in a suburban area, that someone should know multiple ways to get in and out of their neighborhood. This womans inability to think of another way out is proof of what Thomas Sowell has stated in the past - that our education system is not teaching individuals how to think.
