Angry NYC crowd protests Newark Mayor Ras Baraka’s arrest at ICE detention center

Approximately 100 rowdy demonstrators gathered in Lower Manhattan Saturday to protest the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka at an ICE facility this week.

The agitators held signs in Foley Square reading “No ICE, no DOGE, no state terror,” and “ICEstapo must go!” and at least one appeared to hound and follow a supporter of President Trump who showed up as a counter-protest.

Elected officials, including Democratic mayoral candidate state Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani and socialist NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, also spoke.

Mamdani attempted to link some of his opponents for City Hall to the president.

“For the Trump Administration, just like Mayor Eric Adams, just like Andrew Cuomo, the law is merely a suggestion,” Mamdani whined while addressing the crowd.

“We will stand up for the people that those laws protect, and we will do so each and every day, and we will do so at each and every juncture, because what the Trump Administration is looking for is permission to keep rolling those rights back, and at every attempt, we will be there, we will fight them, and we will defeat them,” he continued.

Socialist NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams also slammed the president, bellowing into a blowhorn, “This administration is an embarrassment.”

The protest came less than 24 hours after Baraka was arrested, then released from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center at Delaney Hall.

Non-Americans just filling their day. Morons from NYC throwing a tantrum over a loser from New Joysey named Ras Baraka.

“”Couldn’t pull off a rally in the maya’s Newark?””

Looks like it - had to go into Manhattan? What’s with those foreigners? ARE they legal?

Ras Baraka and Zohran Mamdani - send them back to wherever they came from..

Someone is sure spending a lot of time and no doubt money, teaching them how to protest and they have to cross state lines to do it!

How is it that the left can always muster angry crowds willing to go to any length to get what they want?

PAID

RENT-A-MOB

Rad-left Marxists intimidating the pols with a public tantrum in hopes they’ll cave in and let them have their way.

All for optics and so that you’ll think they’re so stupid you’ll be dismissive of them, which will only empower them further.

“What part of “No one’s above the law” do they not understand?”

Reading, writing, comprehending the law are not their strong points.

100 people in NYC? That’s not a crowd, that’s a small gathering of friends.

“The whole state stinks,”

This statement is false. I lived in New Jersey for 40 years and it is much like the Us itself will wonderful parts and terrible sections. It has been unfortunately run by tax and spend Democrats for too long, with an emphasis on the tax part.

I ran a plant in Newark for 7 years and the workers were great but few were native. Most were from the Caribbean or India. Locals don’t want to work.
