A Florida man is recovering after being gored by a bison at Yellowstone National Park this week.
It seems like this is a lesson that people have to learn once or twice a year, every year. For some reason, people think these are calm, docile animals that can be approached. The truth is that they weigh almost as much as a car and can run surprisingly fast. They’re also wild animals and are famously unpredictable in their behavior.
A full grown bison could easily kill a human being, if they wanted to.
The Daily Caller has details:
Bison Gores Tourist At Yellowstone National Park
A bison gored a 47-year-old Florida tourist Sunday at Yellowstone National Park after the man approached the beast.
The tourist was treated by emergency medical personnel after sustaining minor injuries, Yellowstone authorities said in a press release.
The incident is subject to an ongoing investigation, but it remains the first case of a bison attacking a person in 2025. There are two such cases in 2024, and one in 2023.
“Always stay 25 yards away from bison,” Yellowstone park authorities said in the press release. Authorities advised people maintain a similar distance for all large animals and a 100 yard distance from wolves and bears.
“Bison will defend their space when threatened and have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal. They are unpredictable and can run three times faster than humans,” the press release said.
People reacted on Twitter/X:
Maybe the park just needs bigger warning signs, reminding people that you should avoid wild animals with horns that weigh thousands of pounds.
Yeah, it was an awesome shoot! Magnificent animals. And they had just calved so even better.
I love this time of year! So happy to see the season officially open.
Exactly.
If even that.
Thanks for the tip, ill give it a try

I will read “Death by Selfie” at the dinner table tonight for lots of laughs - and to kick off the summer season of idiocy.
Never underestimate how stupid people can be to get “the perfect selfie” for likes on social media.
I’m a very, very amateur photographer. I started with flowers and things in my backyard. I developed an interest in bird and animal photography. It didn’t take long to learn that birds and animals don’t sit still for very long, sometimes barely a second. I learned that wildlife photography needs patience, and a really good camera and lens. The further away you are, the less likely they will notice you. Because this is just a hobby for me, I cannot justify getting a better lens. I do not sell my work, though I have been asked a couple of times. I do greatly admire the work of other photographers. I’m sure those were some amazing photos.
Tourist tossing season has begun.
Photograph shots or buffalo tranquilizer shots?
The funniest one was a few years ago. I don’t think the woman as seriously injured, but the buffalo did keep her pants.
Don’t pet the fluffy cows.
When will people learn?
No. If the voters had any sense, they would not elect Democrats.
People just never learn!
Never.........
What, no movie?!
Another winner of a Darwin award.
Any bigger and you couldn't see the mountains. No, people simply insist and take pride in being stupid.
Life is not a Disney movie.
These are real, wild animals and bigger and stronger than you.
No, half the people are below the mean intelligence by definition. And mean intelligence is pretty stupid.
