I wonder why they wont vote on it? Anyone?

Rand Paul is outraged. He reposted Massie's tweet and demanded a vote NOW...

Because Republicans are useless cowards and greedy and thieves.

Screw them in 2026.

Well good for Rand Paul. It’s like pulling teeth to get stuff done, conservative stuff that is.

My guess is because members came to Johnson and told him he didn't have the votes to pass it. At least not bundled. Perhaps also because aspects of that vote may be inconsistent with the "big beautiful bill". Or at least, some members wanted to deal with the latter before the former.

Both Paul and Massie need some positive press right now.

And just to be clear, I support it. The more that is cut, the better. Just trying to be realistic in that there apparently are deep divisions over the "big, beautiful bill", and they probably didn't want to have two ugly battles at once.

We'll have a better idea as to the "why" when the reconciliation bill finally passes.

“I wonder why they wont vote on it? Anyone?”

Because Mike Johnson is Paul Ryan.

They don't have the votes to pass it.

And they don't have the votes to pass it because many Republicans in Congress represent states and districts that are filled with white people on welfare.

The GOP, folks.

They ran for YEARS on the promise to remove and replace Obamacare. Then when they had the chance to do it, they said 'we lied, deal with it' and moved on.

They ran for DECADES on the promise to make government smaller and now they have the chance they are saying 'dont even put it up for a vote, we dont want to go on the record again that it was all lies'.

Apparently this is fake news.
Johnson’s team says no vote was scheduled this week.
The claim stems largely from a statement by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on X, alleging Johnson quietly canceled a rescissions vote scheduled for early May 2025. However, Johnson’s press secretary, Athina Lawson, denied this, stating, “No votes on rescissions were ‘cancelled’ this week,” and affirmed Johnson’s commitment to cutting taxpayer-funded waste.

This will give Massie and Paul another reason to vote against final bill. That would delay or sink tax cuts.

If they won’t vote on it (yet), it means they don’t have the votes to pass it (yet). The question is whether there is any chance of assembling a majority in both the House and Senate.

What we don’t know is how many Members aren’t on board and the nature and size of the tweaks that would be needed to bring them along.

We have some nutcases — more now in the House than the Senate — who seem to be perfectly happy to blow up the bill over their pet hobby horses.

And in some cases, this seems tied up in their addiction to prancing in front of the tv cameras and demonstrating their importance — as in, “I’m important, the way Samson was important. I’d rather blow up the caucus and ultimately force a deal with the democrats ... while would let me rant more about my ritual purity vs. all the sellouts who actually thought Republicans need to pass something.”

If too many people play scorched earth, my way or the highway politics, we will squander our chance. So it all becomes a game of brinksmanship.

Some people seem to be happier in the minority, where they can preen about their ritual purity rather than actually having to take responsibility for something. They are drunk on ego. Reagan was right about the person who agrees with me 90 percent of the time being an ally, not an enemy.

Sending billion of U.S. Taxpayer dollars to thieves, criminal and crooks in Afrika and other failed Marxist sewers. This is what the misinformed MAGA voters wanted Trump to do.

Because nobody in Congress has seen anything like actionable evidence throughout the DOGE process, and the vote to turn them into statutory law are now opposed by a majority of Congress.

This is what I've been saying: DOGE can identify waste and correct current expenditures...BUT w/o oversight, they can easily be slipped back into these huge omnibus spending bills.

Why was the voting stopped? A temporary stoppage or what?

The majority of congresscritters are “on the take”. Anything that prevents their scamming, which is taking money fraudulently causes the majority of congresscritters to rise up to prevent and thereby continue the perpetuation of the scam of taxation and then their pocketing “the People’s” money. The majority of congresscritters are corrupt. It’s all about “how can they fool US today”. Most congresscritters should adapt as their slogan: “Give me your vote and give me your money”.
