Did the government confiscate their find?

I saw this and grumbled, ‘Why don’t I ever find something like this?’
Then I heard a voice telling me, ‘Go take a hike!’...

Somebody likely hid their stash from the NAZI’s, who then took them to the nearest death camp. Nobody leaves that much money hidden for too long. So the true owner likely died during the war.

They’re mine. Thank goodness they found where I lost them. Send them back to me now.

Those are worthless. I used 20 just trying to get a Twix out of a vending machine. No luck!

“The hikers found the treasure in two containers hidden in a man-made wall in an overgrown field in February”
And the morons turned it over to a museum. Unreal stupidity. Those were coins that were common enough they could have sold them here and there. Looks like a WWII era hoard.

They also found a note with a single word written on it: “Zihuatanejo.”

Whose land was it found on?
I can see a few people having claim to the gold. The land owner, descendants of those who stashed it and the finders. None of those are the museum or government.
You don't always have to shoot, but shovel and shut up still apply.

I once found several quarters and dimes in the bathroom of a beach, I think at age about 8 or 9. My older brother-in-law confiscated the cash saying I probably took it from the drawer in house LOL.

Oh, so true. It should go into a safe deposit box and pass to those few in subsequent generations who are careful with money.

Those coins are worth a great deal more than $341,000.
