Harvard's President Reacts to New Trump Threat: 'Highly Illegal'
MSN NEWSWEEK ^ | 5-3 | Sonam Sheth

Harvard University's president hit back at President Donald Trump on Friday after Trump announced that he would revoke Harvard's tax-exempt status.

Trump's latest threat to the school comes after Harvard filed a federal lawsuit last month alleging that the administration violated the Ivy League university's constitutional rights by freezing more than $2 billion in federal grants and funding.

What To Know Harvard President Alan Garber told The Wall Street Journal that Trump's decision to revoke the school's tax-exempt status is "highly illegal, unless there is some reasoning that we have not been exposed to that would justify this dramatic move."

"Tax-exempt status is granted to educational institutions to enable them to successfully carry out their mission of education, and for research universities, of research," Garber said.

He continued: "Obviously, that would be severely impaired if we were to lose our tax-exempt status. And I should add, it would be destructive to Harvard, but the message that it sends to the educational community would be a very dire one, which suggests that political disagreements could be used as a basis to pose what might be called an existential threat to so many educational institutions."

Me too. Let’s see how Harvard likes lawfare. The DOJ has unlimited resources and an army of lawyers. I can’t wait for the day that Trump makes Harvard bend a knee to him and beg forgiveness.

“...which suggests that political disagreements could be used as a basis to pose what might be called an existential threat to so many educational institutions.”

Why would an educational/research institution need to be politically involved at all?
They are using our money to attack us.

Harvard is one of about twenty colleges in the country that get about half a billion dollars per year from the Federal government.

**What To Know
About that phrase; Somewhere there’s an author and editor that need to be slapped.**

Yep. Every time I see that phrase, or similarly, when is accompanied by a number, such as “5 things you need to know”, it is simply mind control. The real unspoken effort is: “This is how we want you to think about (fill in blank)”.

Harvard U is not used to being treated like thieves

We are talking about Ivy League here, so it is important to step the vocabulary. "Amoral Scalawags" is more in line with the culprit than "thieves".

I have never believed in taxing churches. Something needs to change with the non-profits

And Jesus said “render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s”

Also a man can not serve 2 masters he must choose between the 2. In the case of the churches the choice is between God and money and most churches have choosen money.

Doesn’t LBJ’s 501-3 tax exemption law specifically say no politics?

"Tax-exempt status is granted to educational institutions to enable them to successfully carry out their mission of education, and for research universities, of research," Garber said.

And that is right there in our US Constitution, the 121st Amendment, didn't Pres Trump realize that?

I don't see how shutting off grants can be "highly illegal" as those funds are bestowed by the wishes of the giver.

That term seems to be the new buzzword for everything Trump 47 does now.

Harvard may have a problem

I asked AI Grok about the subject and this is an one part of the answer..

“Bob Jones University v. United States (1983):
Issue: The IRS revoked the tax-exempt status of Bob Jones University, a religious institution, because its racially discriminatory policies (e.g., banning interracial dating) violated public policy. The university argued this infringed on its religious freedom.

Ruling (8-1): The Court upheld the IRS’s action. Chief Justice Burger emphasized that tax exemptions are a privilege, not a right, and can be denied if an organization’s practices contravene fundamental public policy, like racial equality. The decision applied to religious and non-religious entities alike, avoiding First Amendment violations.

Key Point: Religious organizations can lose tax-exempt status if their actions conflict with established public policy, even if rooted in religious belief.
Citation: Bob Jones Univ. v. United States, 461 U.S. 574 (1983).”

= AI Grok -

I would think their DEI policy (discrimination) and support of Anti-jewish groups would be cause to revoke their exemption.

The main point is that the court ruled that tax exemption is a privilege not a right.

As if the Harvard bozos haven’t figurd out that advocating for the genocide of the Jews ISN’T ILLEGAL. Harvard’s standards are in the toilet. It started when they pleaded with that little biatch, Davy the Hogg, to attend brainwashing and far left programming at their house of prostitution.

I think non profits should only be those who take in, say, $200,000 a year and gives awsy 90% per year....anymore than that and it is taxed, and no longer considered non profit.
