Trump aims to rename Veterans Day ‘Victory Day for World War I’

President Trump said he wants to rename the federal holiday Veterans Day “Victory Day for World War I Day” and add another holiday to commemorate World War II, declaring the United States should “start celebrating our victories again!”

“Many of our allies and friends are celebrating May 8th as Victory Day, but we did more than any other Country, by far, in producing a victorious result on World War II. I am hereby renaming May 8th as Victory Day for World War II and November 11th as Victory Day for World War I,” Trump wrote on Truth Social late Thursday.

He added, “We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything — That’s because we don’t have leaders anymore, that know how to do so! We are going to start celebrating our victories again!”

Veterans Day, the federal holiday observed Nov. 11, originated as a way to celebrate the end of the World War I, but the day honors all military veterans.

The president did not say if he would want to make May 8 an official federal holiday. He called on renaming it as a day to celebrate the victory of World War II.

Federal holidays are created through acts of Congress. In 2021, Congress voted to establish Juneteenth as a federal holiday, and former President Biden signed the bill into law.

Trump needs to get some people who actually know history on his staff fast! VJ Day is September 2. Memorial Day and Veterans Day are fine just the way they are.

"Why?"

Why? Because normal Americans are not self-hating, androgynous bitches?

As a youngster in the late 50s, calendars had V-E Day, V-J Day, and Armistice Day proudly noted.
