@PressSec reacts to Amazon's announcement on tariffs: "This is a hostile and political act by Amazon... It's not a surprise because, as Reuters recently wrote, Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm... This is another reason Americans should buy American."

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Consumers can simply buy American products instead.
I’m sure Amazon will add a “made America” filter too?
(Sarcasm)
I know, I guess some things are up to individuals to investigate and decide.
They do have a filter for that on some searches, the problem is that many of those products are made in China. It’s a joke. Maybe Amazon’s “Made in USA” filter is made in China.
Interesting. I wonder if Amazon could design their website so that it will list items sold in the continental US like eBay does.
eBay does. Why can’t Amazon, and even Walmart, do the same thing?
Sorry. Amazon is like Chic-fil-A. Their service is too good to cancel over political BS. I’m pretty sure they lose money on the things I buy from them…. Like one tiny 6” usb cable that they deliver on the same day.
Jail Bezos for election interference.
One good thing, it will expose those non-tariff taxed items going up in price by unscrupulous businesses just jacking up prices because they can.
This isn’t going to be easy, but I’m going to try boycotting Amazon. There are two Wal-Marts within five miles of me and they both deliver.
What election?
I canceled today because of their RUFUS THE DUFUS, their AI chat that pops up over the website. Can’t see what I am looking at because Amazon is far more interested in people using their AI chat than buying products. Annoying as hell.
I am done with Amazon.
The reality is that American-made products cost ~4% more than made in China crap. Most buyers would not actually notice this. However, that’s a huge amount of profit when concentrated in the distributor’s hands.
This is why the companies who offshore production are fighting to keep their gains. Also of note is that the average profit margin >4%, so we’re not talking about bankrupting businesses, just not letting them make as much profit at the expense of the American people or national security. Boo hoo

That just means their prices will go up. No?
If the prices are significantly higher, the sales will suffer, particularly if people can find alternatives.
Some people are lazy shoppers, but it’s a lot easier to search around these days when you are buying on line than it was back in the day when you actually had to travel to price shop.
I think by identifying products with prices increased by tariffs, Bezos/Amazon believes it will result in Buyers disapproving Trump and Buyers lobbying their reps to fight tariffs.
I need a new computer keyboard. Which American-made model should I buy?
I’ll take a look. Thanks.
