Yep...indoors is the only place we Florida transplants from up north can continue to wear our winter attire :)

Seriously, my girl takes a sweater or light jacket to every store or restaurant we go to....

Not Florida……. But Texas. So similar weather.
Having said that….. my wife thinks 84 is a comfortable room temp.

Over cooling is not limited to Florida. And BTW, 97 is hotter than normal.

The same thing often happens in AZ.
Hotels can be freezing even for locals.

Hotels and restaurants do tend to crank the AC pretty high. Put the room on 72.

BTW, if you tip your maid service, you can often get some additional amenities, like extra shampoo. The Space Coast hotels tend to be nicer about that when we’ve been with relatives.

They’re also trying to deal with the FL humidity by using the AC to excess. I’m in OK & experience the same thing in public spaces, like restaurants. I use a light jacket.

Where I live in Florida, south of Tampa and Sarasota, 91 is a typical summertime high temperature.

It is bearable for a short time.

I try to stay indoors from about 10am to 6pm.

Inside my house I try to keep the temperature around 82 degrees from April to October.

I can tell you Houston becomes a steambath from March on.

One thing I learned moving to FL 20 yrs ago, a northern escapee, is that 50 degrees here is a wee bit colder than 50 degrees up north. Its the humidity that makes it feel colder. You don’t have as much humidity up north as you do down here. Our home’s AC is set for 78, so when its in the 90s outside, coming inside is like opening the freezer door at first, LOL, especially when you just came from the pool, but it evens out in a bit. When I go up north for work, I can get away with a sweater in 60 degrees, down here its long pants and closed toe shoes, LOL.

Less than 2% of adult males understand the theoretical use or the mechanical operation of the thermostat. Its so damn infuriating! A/C boundaries!

CLOSE THE FRONT DOOR!

Turn the room temp up, wear a sweater vest to your meetings and have a drink at the bar before dinner to warm you up.
