I found my thrill on Blueberry Ping!.....................
i love blueberry pie
Blueberries don’t ripen around here until late July. Hard pressed to even find leaves this time of year. Nice views of China Lake from some of the hilltop farms.
This tourist-trappy looking place up in northern Maine (halfway between Bar Harbor and the Canadian Border) had the best slice of blueberry pie I have ever eaten. It was called: LINK: Wild Blueberry Land
I am a pie aficionado, and am justly proud of my apple pies:
So, when we stopped at this place during the lockdown, even though the shop was closed, you could still buy pie.
And I was skeptical about the outlook for quality, especially from a place that looked as touristy as that place did.
But oh, wow. Was it great. The crust was excellent, not doughy, not overly flaky, and had an almost imperceptible amount of turbinado sugar sprinkled on the top. Got it served warm with a nice dollop of good quality vanilla ice cream on it!
Best I have ever had!

Seems a little early in the year for Blueberries….
My husband’s absolute favorite.
We now have blueberry varieties that grow well in California and there is even a blueberry picking farm not too far from us where you gather your own.
Haven’t got enough for a pie yet, hopefully this year. Boysenberries are blooming right now so I may have to substitute...
