An Austin-based tech company is pitching lawmakers on a drone defense system designed to disrupt school shootings in under a minute without using deadly force.
Justin Marston, CEO and founder of Campus Guardian Angel, said the system is modeled after tactics used in modern warfare, particularly the war in Ukraine.
“I came up with the idea watching the war in Ukraine and how successful small, low-cost drones were against people with guns,” Marston said. “They were able to get to those folks no matter how many times they were firing at them. So it really gave us the idea, if we could make these drones cost-effective enough, we could put them on every school campus in Texas.”
The company’s system uses drone “launch boxes” stationed around schools and a remote operations center staffed by former law enforcement and military personnel. Marston says in an active shooter scenario, operators deploy drones in tactical waves—first to distract, then to disorient, and finally to disable.

When was the last time a school shooter opened up outside?
Mainly they get IN the building.
Therefore a drone is useless. What a dumb idea - of course it comes out of Austin.
AH-64s with Hellfire missiles would be better.
How long before there’s a drone box on every block?
Walking drones with guns? Like in Robocop?
If the perp was viciously tortured, then killed for taking a child’s innocence or life, we would not have to worry about the problem.
Look at the crime rates in countries that have several criminal penalties. Now ask yourself why are their rates so low?
Will these drones also prevent or stop false flag school shootings?
“a drone defense system designed to disrupt school shootings in under a minute without using deadly force....first to distract, then to disorient, and finally to disable. Cool, but it seems like disable might mean dead.
The ED-209 worked out great
There have been some shootings outside. But to your point, could drones be stationed in hallways and classrooms? I don’t know if that’s possible. But if it could be done, that would be a major distraction to shooters.

But it's not about protecting students.
It's about ginning up an excuse to take our guns.
you dont need a gun a truck driven onto the playground will do just as well.
Competent LEO’s would work better.
I’ve seen ideas for a drone on every home.
Maybe schools should just be built as forts now? /Sss
GI Joe had the “Pac Rats”.
They didn’t get a ton of play from what I remember.
I was chatting with a fellow who makes a mint hardening schools. Ballistic materials, cameras, locks, PA systems, etc.
When I asked him the same question I have asked other guys who do this he gave me the same response I always get. The response was “we don’t talk about that”.
The question is: “There are almost 500,000 school busses running twice a day all over America, how do you stop someone from entering a bus and doing deadly harm?”
