American Mom in Paris Shares 5 "Superior" Things About French Parenting
Newsweek ^ | Sep 2024 | Daniella Gray

Annabel, who spent two months in the French capital with her 15-month-old daughter and husband, shared what she noticed about parenting culture in France compared to the U.S. in a reel on Instagram.

"Overall, I felt that French culture was a lot more laid back and that French society put less pressure on moms to be or act a certain way," she told Newsweek.

"At home, I find there is this constant pressure to 'do more' for our kids—more activities, more toys, more classes...overstimulation is everywhere…

Annabel's first observation was that French parents naturally include their children in their daily routines, rather than focusing on kid-centric activities or entertainment.

Another big difference Annabel noticed was around eating habits. French children typically don't snack, instead sticking to a routine of four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, a 4 p.m. treat called 'un gouter,' and dinner.

I saw much less comparison and judgment of other moms' choices, and also less self-inflicted shame and guilt.

American: “What do Americans do well?”
Frenchman: “I give up.”
American: “I figured you would.”

Oh OK, they don’t snack. They just get a sweet treat of some type in the middle of the afternoon. And they call that non-snack between lunch and supper a cool foreign name. Got it…

French parents naturally include their children in their daily routines

We did that, in addition whatever enrichment we could afford.

The French have raised their kids to be cultural betas. Everything they love and praise about their culture will be crushed under the Islamists in another generation. They’re already half way there.

Western Europe is already lost. How ironic that the Eastern European countries like Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic that were under the Soviet boot for so long are the ones that place preservation of their heritage and culture above tolerance and inclusion and open borders.

My kids basically had 4 meals like this. The 4 o’clock one was usually around 3 pm in our house (after school - healthy snack, mini meal). Dinner was 7 or 7:30 because hubby always worked that late.

When the locals ‘get to know’ her daughters a bit more than she bargained for, she might have other thoughts about how ‘wonderful’ Europe is for White women these days.

Keep the burka on moms. Not a single square centimeter may be seen. You must never leave the house without a male family member. If you or your daughter are raped it’s your fault and you will be stoned to death. When your daughters reach puberty they will get a full cliterodectomy and FMG to make them pure for their new husband. Your boys will learn to dance for the imams and be fitted for vests as soon as they can walk.

The New France.

I think they were referring to the fact that in some cultures people have open food next to them all day.

The gouter is more like British tea only much smaller. It is a small meal. Tides them over until their later dinner.
