A recent flight to Italy was disrupted by a passenger who was upset about getting the wrong onboard meal. Before the plane turned back to the U.S., the man tried to charge into the cockpit. Passengers were stranded at their original airport for eight hours until their flight could take off again the next morning. Passengers on board a transatlantic American Airlines flight from New York City to Milan earlier this month were nearly at the the halfway mark of their eight-hour journey when they learned their plane was making a U-turn back to the U.S.
The reason: one disruptive passenger, whose tantrum was reportedly sparked over an in-flight meal order gone wrong, according to a CBS News report.
The flight departed on April 7 from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) at 7:07 p.m. local time, landing back at the same airport at 3:02 a.m., FlightAware data showed. Eventually the same flight number took off again on April 8 at 11:22 a.m., with the passengers arriving at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) at 12:12 a.m. local time.
A passenger told the network the debacle started because the unruly passenger didn't get their meal of choice, explaining that they requested the meal before the flight. But that wasn’t the only issue. “They also wanted to sit in an exit row,” they added. “They had a baby with them, so they told them they couldn't and apparently those two things are what pushed the person over the edge."

Another good guess.
I’m guessing muzzie.
Maybe got pork.
Dumbass Captain in the drivers seat.
Or it might have been a couple with one taking care of the baby while the other rampaged like a wounded bull moose.
My guess as well, or one of those glutton intolerant types.
The Jack Nicholson character in Anger Management had to admit to Adam Sandler that he was set up, including by a young woman actress “and a good one.”

Still dangerous to verbally tangle in flight but now Barbara Billingsley can’t interpret. Passed away. Oct 16, 2010. RIP.
So how is anyone going to get anywhere if we have to turn around for illegals on board (judge ruling while in midair) and now for any out of control passenger (which means half of the people we pass during a day).
Where is the Belize flight solution to these issues ?
You can’t just re-direct every plane with a nut case on it.
RE: passenger tantrum over in flight meal....
“First you give us bland avocado toast and then the lunch entree is the most tasteless sea bass I’ve eaten in months.”
Hog tie hands and feet and continue. An aborted flight like that probably cost the airline $100,000 or more.
why? they were halfway there and turned around.
I had the lasagna.

I watched the linked CBS report. The man was released by the police with no formal charges!!!
It was a great inconvenience to the passengers. The plane landed in JFK airport at 3 AM!! Passengers claim they got no help from the airport staff, but they did get a flight the next day to continue to their destination.

This is another reason why I no long fly, and generally stay close to the compound. Going into public is a big no thank you if I can possibly avoid it.☺
Last time I was at a park in S. CA I watched this guy who appeared to be with his family. Dad, mom and two obese males, about 11 and 8. Dad was teaching one of the boys to ride a bike which had training wheels. Yep. And the kid on the bike was screaming at Dad to give him his phone back. I paraphrase, “Gimme my phone back you f****r.” The other kid was yelling at mom about something. A quick thought jumped in my head...Leave this place now.
Tranking the disruptive passengers and continuing to the destination would have been the optimum result, IMHO...
That way, the sane passengers would not have been penalized...
“I ordered the kosher meal!”
Someone ordered halal?
And the pilots are telling everyone they had problems with the plane and they had to go back...Very comforting.

“For those on board, the entire journey was filled with anxiety. “They were telling everyone that there were technical issues on the plane, which is even scarier,” another passenger told the network. The real reason became clear when the man “charged past all of our seats and tried to barge into the pilot’s cabin,” they said.
“A passenger said the guy remained at the back of the plane, unrestrained. “The guy was still in the back of the plane unprotected, unrestrained, which was a little bit scary considering we had a plane full of 300 people and there was no air marshal on board, and we’ve got this crazy man in the back,” a they said.
