A NASCAR race turned into a wrestling match for two drivers who were involved in a crash. On the opening night of the 2025 season on Saturday (April 19) at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, US, a fight broke out between drivers Zack Staley and Justin Halverson during the race.
The confrontation began after the cars of the two drivers collided on the track, leading to both exiting their vehicles and engaging in a physical fight. The situation escalated quickly, prompting multiple people to intervene and pull them apart.
The NASCAR broadcast captured the moment, stating, “Staley’s out of the car! Staley’s out of the car! He falls out of the car. He’s got the helmet off. Open face, gloves off! [Alverson] is trying to get out of the car ferociously. A takedown! They’re trying to restrain an absolutely enraged Zach Staley.”

Raw stupidity. Put them on the front lines in a war somewhere. Tell them if they don’t get after it and fight, they will get shot dead. Everyone else seeing that happen will have a note to self, “Don’t get in a fight over nothing.”
Nawwh, in old school Nascar there would have been a baseball bat and a fishing rod involved.
Undetectable guns? WTF even is that? They just can’t help themselves, unbelievable.
“This is your Brain, but without Impulse Control.
Watch the bedlam unfold, quicker than an Egg Timer.
Not worth wrecking your cars. Wait until after the race.
When I worked for a driver, Elmo Langley, most of the fights occurred in the garage area, not in front of the crowds....
Didn’t someone get killed (run over) in a race because of this before?
That’s how it is supposed to be...
I went to a wrestling match the other day and a NASCAR race broke out.
Some years later, my father and I were watching a NASCAR race on TV and they were interviewing one of the racers, Buddy Baker. Dad asks me if I remember him, I didn't. He then tells me I should because he was the guy we watched drag the other racer out of his car years back. LOL
