In 1941, Lieutenant Raymond Edmund Grimani Cox survived the sinking of the SS Britania on a raft. He stated that a giant squid attacked the raft taking one of the men, and he fought it off. A marine naturalist, John Cloudsley-Thompson, examined Cox’s scars at Birkbeck College in 1956, and validated the story. Don’t get too close to these giants.

“It’s exciting to see the first in situ footage of a juvenile colossal and humbling to think that they have no idea that humans exist,” Dr Kat Bolstad, a cephalopod biologist at the Auckland University of Technology who consulted the team and helped to verify the species, said in a statement.

Well, Doc, I’m guessin’ that’s not the only thing about which they have no idea. But, you keep in sciencin’...

It is difficult to serious consider the thoughts of a man who is humbled that squids do not know humans exist. I hope he was embarrassed when he read his quoted words in print. LOL
