There are many things, in our world today, that point to the imminent return of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Timothy tells us, “…This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…”

Sure sounds like our world today, doesn’t it? Every day, we see examples of every single one of those things Timothy lists. The nations of the world are in peril. People are self-centered and self-indulgent and boast of their own accomplishments.

Every day I get up I wonder if this is the day, though I don't get too worked up about it. When it happens, it happens. So many have gone before us who thought they would see "the Day" but did not. So why should we expect things to be any different with us?

Tell you what, though, when judgment hits the USA, it will be most severe. Just imagine; the Cascadia subduction zone, the San Andreas fault line, the Yellowstone Caldara, the New Madrid, and the East Coast faults all erupting at once. The USA would be gone, overnight.

Don't get me wrong; I don't advocate for it and I hope and pray it never comes to pass, but when talk about judgment comes up I remember what it says in Revelation 6:12-17:

"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

When you're spiritually blind, you don't know you're blind. Consider Paul. He believed he was doing the Lord's will. It took getting knocked to the ground, blinded and preached to by the resurrected Christ to bring him to the knowledge of the truth. In my BC life, I was in darkness and eventually brought to the end of myself. Only then I confessed/realized I was a broken man and needed Christ. Only then, could I look at my past and realize how blind/lost I had been.

The question I often ask is: 'Lord, you went to supernatural extremes to get Paul's attention and save him. Why aren't you dong the same for all men? I'm sure there are preachers and theologians who would answer this question. I believe the only explanation is "God chooses". Sounds Calvinistic, I know.

The Moon reflects the light of the Sun, so it's no surprise that the large, shocked man is analogous to Esau, while the little man of the eye has got that wry smile.

Calendar-wise at minimum, Esau is traditionally associated with the Sun, and Jacob with the Moon.

And just like their names Esau [עשו] and Jacob [יעקב], they share an eye [letter ayin ע] -- Tranquility Base -- which is also the "third eye" in the middle of Esau's forehead, code for beyond the normal vision.

Of course it simultaneously shows a large man who's been thwacked in the middle of his forehead, kind of like Goliath.

The Moon is symbolic of the Kingdom of David, so I'll wager "400 Quatloos on the newcomer", a nod to the distance versus diameter ratios that make eclipses happen.

As it happens, even though the Moon is 400 times smaller than the Sun, it's also about 400 times closer to Earth than the Sun is. This means that from Earth, the Moon and Sun appear to be roughly the same size in the sky. It is a complete coincidence.

Now isn't that an odd thing because the map says that 358 is Jackie Gleason's Childhood Home, even though it leaves the address unmarked on the map. It's visible on street view, though.

As a young pupil, the Chassidic master Reb Yisrael of Ruzhin (1796-1850) was instructed by his teacher to pronounce G-d's name whenever he saw two dots next to each other.¹ Now, at the end of a verse in the Torah, there are also two dots: one above the other. That evening at home, the young Reb Yisrael began to read, and every time he reached the end of a verse he uttered G-d's name. His father reprimanded him: "What's going on here?! Who taught you that?!" The boy responded, "My teacher did. He taught me that whenever I see two dots together, I should pronounce G-d's name. So that's what I'm doing."

Reb Yisrael's father explained to his son: "The dot, the yud , represents a Jew. When one Jew is beside another, when one Jew respects the other, then G-d dwells in their presence. Their alliance becomes G-d's name. But when one Jew is on top of the other, when one Jew thinks he's better or smarter than the next, or disrespects his neighbor, then that's the end of the passage. It creates a separation in the relation between a Jew and G-d.
