copacetic

adjective

co·pa·cet·ic ˌkō-pə-ˈse-tik

variants or less commonly copasetic or copesetic

Synonyms of copacetic

: very satisfactory

And his smile told him that everything was copacetic.

—Robert Bloch

Did you know?

If you’re living the life of Riley, strolling along easy street, or wallowing in hog heaven, your circumstances may be described as copacetic. A word of obscure origin, copacetic has for over a century satisfied those who’ve had a hankering to describe that which is hunky-dory or otherwise completely satisfactory. (If "of obscure origin" leaves you feeling less than copacetic, the note here will undoubtedly remedy that.) Life isn’t always beer and skittles, but when you do find yourself walking that primrose path, just remember: it’s all copacetic.

Synonyms

agreeable

all right

alright

ducky

fine

good

hunky-dory

jake [slang]

OK

okay

palatable

satisfactory

Examples of copacetic in a Sentence

don't worry, because I assure you that everything's copacetic

There's a pretty decent song with the word copacetic in the lyrics.

That word went through a period of constant use, it was nice that it faded away.

In the late 80’s, I had a supervisor/manager who used the word “copacetic” all the time-every one of us who worked there hated that ass****-once we found out he had some dirty secrets-a mistress (he was married), a bitchy, violent and jealous wife, a liking for pole dancer clubs, etc-we used that to do so many sneaky, mean things to him that he left after about 7 months, convinced that he was going crazy...

If the world was a perfect place
We would be naturally athletic-
Our healthy food would cook itself
And all life would be copacetic...

“COPACETIC”; When things are in excellent order.
‘60’s expression for same thing: “Neat!”

Another formal term about something common. Usually written, not spoken is:
“MILIEU”: Meaning a person’s social or cultural environment.

I remember hearing it often on late 50s, early 60s TV. I’m thinking Danny Thomas used it often, but it could have been someone else.

That song was my first thought. Whenever I see that word, my brain automatically starts playing:

And you just don't get it, you keep it copacetic...

My Dad used to use that word. It brought back nice memories of him.

Thanks, Red Badger! :-)

We used “copacetic” when we were teens.

Haven’t heard it in a very long time. I like the word.
