Love them or hate them, those marshmallow Peeps that come in blindingly bright colors and an array of flavors are inescapable around the Easter holiday. Millions are made daily in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, by Just Born Quality Confections, a family-owned candy manufacturer that also churns out Hot Tamales, Mike and Ike fruit chews and Goldenberg's Peanut Chews.
Peeps is Just Born's most recognizable brand and one of a handful of candies that evoke strong reactions — good and bad. Some say an Easter basket isn't complete without Peeps while others deride them as being indestructible. Some use them in recipes or even artwork. "Even if you're not usually one to gravitate to eating the Peeps, there's always so many other fun ways to include them in your celebrations," said Caitlin Servian, brand manager for Peeps.
On average, about 5.5 million are made each day. That adds up to 2 billion a year — or roughly 6 Peeps for every man, woman and child across the U.S. First hatched in yellow, the sugary chicks and bunnies come in nine colors for this Easter season, including pink, blue and lavender. And there are even more flavors — 14 for Easter — from cookies and cream, to fruit punch and sour watermelon. The varieties and colors vary throughout the year with different holiday seasons.

My husband insists that the true Peep connoisseur lets them ‘age’ a little (iow become stale) before consuming...
Yuck
What would you fire from the Peep Cannon, if there were no Peeps at Easter?
Candy Corn is great! I stock up at Hallowe’en. Farley’s was always the best, but I don’t see that anywhere anymore.
dont know about Peeps, but if there are any Nestle’s Crunch bars in there, they are confiscated for the child’s safety!! ;P
Unless you get the beaujolais Peeps.
I do not have a discerning palate. I tend to favor junk food and sweets. Having said that, I give a thumbs down to peeps.
Nothing wrong with pastel or fluorescent food (Peeps, jelly beans, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Cheetos, etc.). I have many more pleasant memories of eating these than of eating out at great restaurants. And yes, I know they’re not good for me.
I kind of agree. I would eat Candy Corn as a kid, but I realized it’s not that great. I don’t think I’ve eaten it since the 80’s, but maybe I had a few pieces in the 90’s.
I like fruit jelly beans.
Peeps... They’re cute for decorating, but not (for me) to eat.
You can have my 6 peeps.
LOL!
Certain foods look good, but you always regret eating them later. Like donuts. I am open to smelling them now, I just don’t eat them.
I’m not a fan of donuts either. I never understood the craze for ‘Krispy Kreme’.
They are fun to microwave. That’s about it.
I don’t want a Peep out of you!
LOL good idea!
