Congress now faces an $880 billion Medicaid question
Roll Call ^ | Apr 10 | By Jessie Hellmann

The House cleared a hurdle Thursday in adopting a budget resolution needed for filibuster-proof legislation on President Donald Trump’s policy priorities. But now, another obstacle stands in the way: how to find $1.5 trillion in spending cuts without cutting Medicaid benefits, as Trump and House leadership have promised.

The budget resolution directs the House Energy and Commerce Committee to find $880 billion in savings — a feat that would prove extremely difficult without making deep cuts to Medicaid, the massive health program covering 72 million Americans, including low-income adults, children and people with disabilities.

Some Republicans say they won’t support legislation that would cut the program.

“If they’re going to cut qualified, legal people, whether they’re disabled, whether they’re senior citizens, whether they’re working poor … we’re not supporting that. Period,” said Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., who along with a dozen other Republicans met with Speaker Mike Johnson earlier this week to emphasize their objections to Medicaid benefit cuts.

This is bogus. That is $880B over 10 years—or $88B a year.

How many are illegals on the program? Just look to any ER in a major city.

The question is not just a political one, but a moral one as well.

While I agree medical care should have been obtained in their home country, the fact remains they are the human in front of you. Perhaps we should be demanding payment from their country of origin.

Premiums starting at only $1 a month!

Going up by $1/month.

Get off the program for a year and we’ll restart again at $1/month.

Another possibility is to require drugs to be sold to state Medicaid programs at lowest industrially advanced country pricing.

Lowering nursing home costs would help.

Nursing homes might be two side-by-side eight-bed units, each run by a couple with some shared and some outside help.

Oh, I’m sorry, there’s no more new federal money student loans.

How will I pay for college?

Work in a nursing home for a year full-time and then part-time for four years.

“Perhaps we should be demanding payment from their country of origin.”

Like a medical tariff? Try that times 20,000,000 illegals, love it!

There could also be new taxes:
10% on car payments, cellphone plans, utility bills, etc.

They would be withheld by the loan holder and utility and only sent to the IRS in the February following.

They would be credited back as soon as you provide yearly private coverage verification as created under the PPACA.

Fiscal data can be found here https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/americas-finance-guide/federal-spending/#spending-categories
So take illegals off SS and medicare - stop the frivolous grants DOGE has found It really should not be hard to do all while leaving SS and Medicare ((for us citizens) alone
DOGE https://doge.gov/savings has found 150 billion so far Let them keep digging.

And get rid of Obamacare. When we talk about financial problems with Medicaid, we’re supposed to forget how Obamacare expanded Medicaid bigly.

I’m not sure cutting qualified people (citizens) is the total answer. The one thing I think DOGE could do is implement a system where consistent repayment of fund spent on someone’s behalf are collected. No asset hiding, transfers within 5 years, banking checking and savings accounts, etc.

Emergency room care is the most expensive - for illegals and for poor citizens. It’s also the one that’s incentivized. Create a system based on the incentives of a careful family and you’ll have better medical care cheaper...

Hint: in a family - a portion of what YOU DON’T SPEND ON MEDICAL CARE you get to use for other things you want and need. So a family self limits ...

Solution: treat all illegals at the emergency room then release them after recovery to a ICE officer for immediate deportation.

That's a pretty big problem what is the answer?

1) Fire Dr. Oz

2) Eliminate all restrictions on medical practice by physicians and surgeons

3) Make hospitals and "health systems" regulated public utilities or nationalize them.

4) Require health "insurance" to be catastrophic only and if independent insurance as a business is permitted require divestment from and medical or surgical related businesses.

That should about do it.
