RealID will be corrupt as any other one. Illegals can get a driver’s license out here in CaCaLand. A RealID simply needs another check on “home” address. It means nothing.
The only advantage is that more info is digitized so Tech companies can sell more CCP-controlled digital crappola. Like Dominion voting machines or the crappy laptops handed out in schools at taxpayer expense.
Saying that it is convenient when crossing into another state is asinine. Within the US no such document is or should ever be necessary. Go this route and you are signing into 15-minute cities crappola.
Seems the dems wanted open borders so they would have millions of illegals voting the dem ticket but forgot ids may be required. Typical shorted sightedness by the dems.
“ I had so many breaks by cops growing up- serious breaks too- Cops back then, at least in our town, were more like extended fathers or friends who tried to keep folks on the straight and narrow without fining them.”
I grew up in Brooklyn. We knew all the cops walking the beat in the hood and they not only knew us, but knew our parents. They came to our cook-outs and even coached teams we played on. If we got in trouble we usually got a choice. Hard punch in the arm or a smack to the head. If someone did something stupid like break into a car, you were spending the night at the 61, but not being placed in the system. That was usually followed up with the officer talking to the parent in addition to the customary smack to the head.
FAFO was a choice that became something me and my friends understood.
How do we know “Real ID” will not be corrupted? I think you get it at the DMV. What’s to stop Newsom’s DMV from issuing “Real ID”s to illegal aliens?
RealID isn’t needed. Remember this was all part of 9-11, and some fools saying the state IDs are too hard to tell if they’re real, so we need “a standard”. And 24 years we’re finally going to get it. Kind of. At least if you want to board plane. But it’s not going to solve ANYTHING else. It’s not really even going to solve what it was supposed to solve.
I got my real ID about six months ago. The woman at the DMV didn’t question anything and all I had to do to “prove” I was a citizen is check a box on the touch screen. And once that happens you are automatically registered to vote. Real ID is a joke. Just another scam to register illegals to vote for democrats.
“RealID isn’t needed. Remember this was all part of 9-11”
Yep absolutely. And it WILL NOT stop voter fraud. In fact it is your information going into yet ANOTHER database that can be hacked and your identity stolen. It in it’s self is an additional security risk.
As it is the Social Security mandated “ID.me” electronic verification is a huge international security risk on cloud servers around the world. AND it is tied directly to Google and other 3rd party “marketing” services...
It is owned and maintained by a private third party marketing firm in the UK. They should have absolutely NOTHING to do with our U.S. government affairs let alone citizen identification databases. And ID.me is a facial recognition database going into a global database.
ID.me is a huge National Security risk!
What I’ve never understood ,is what verifying ID, or standardizing ID,s have to do with trying to prevent another September 11th.
Mohammad Atta and his boys were all foreign nationals. As such, their ID would have been their passports.
I know the Real ID act was based on a recommendation of the 9/11 commission. Maybe there are some other reasons why it’s good for states to standardize how they issue drivers licenses.
You wonder about the urgency of it as well. It took over twenty years to fully implement this.
You’re guess is as good as mine on that. Really like everything else that happened in reaction to 9-11 it’s really just the government saying “we’d like some more power please”.
I mean there are actually good reasons for states to standardize. I live in AZ which half the country thinks are fake IDs because they’re good until you’re 65, so any cop that’s never seen an AZ ID, especially if you’re young, looks at an ID with an expiration date of 2067 and looks at you like you’re the dumbest criminal in the world. (of course now that I’m 55 not so much, woh, it just dawned on me that I’m now old enough that my 2034 license expiration is no longer dumb) So I get that standards aren’t a bad thing, but, of course, the American government never even tried to do it in a smart or useful way.
Where I live it’s harder to get a passport than a Real ID.
Gold star? Are they stupid historically?
Mist state IDs have barcodes that can be scanned.
It is described as a gold star. Actually, it is a gold circle, hollowed out to show the background as a star.
Biden enabled hundreds of thousands of illegals get Social Security cards and then get driver’s license so the Real ID is already obselete to stop what it intended.
How about instead of some corporate card ....don’t leave home without it...
why not give those who fit a ‘non-veteran ‘ card, and leave us veterans alone?
Yeah, these days. And they fixed the AZ ID so they just generally look more professional. Back when we first got the “forever” ID they were just good old fashioned laminated things, that looked half fake already. Then you add an expiration 40 years in the future, and my friend who visited his family in NYC had occasional difficulties trying to convince local cops and airline personnel and others that wasn’t a fake ID. Luckily he always succeeded, so they were just funny stories.
I’m all for abolishing mail in voting. But nobody should have to wait in line to vote more than an hour. Some have to wait 8 hours. Unsatisfactory!
It wasn’t so long ago a man would get on his horse and ride the 5 miles into town to vote. The voting rates were higher then. Mighta been the need to get away from the old lady as women weren’t allowed to vote.
I’ve been able to get in and out of a voting booth in 30 seconds. If I can do it anyone should do it in 60. Sample ballots come in the mail beforehand. No reason to not come prepared.
I used to rip out the left hand side of the editorial page under “The Chronicle Recommends”. Then I’d vote opposite of what they recommended. Got it right 90% of the time.
And we already do that. Motor voter.
