The risk to eyesight from shingles is substantial, as my poor vision indicates.

Excellent! My wife has a friend who just turned 80, and she absolutely doesn’t look it! She looks like she could be in her mid 60s. Not only do some people have good genes, but how they take care of themselves matters, too. I have the usual age-related problems. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the eye doctor. One of my eyes, I fear, needs attention I believe I have a cataract and floaters galore.

I know I have had mild cataracts in both eyes for some time, my right eye seems to have gotten worse lately. At least I hope that’s all it is.

My mother is 93 and could pass for twenty or thirty years younger. Her level of energy exhausts us when we take her on errands and shopping expeditions.

Broadly, those who age well tend to generate new cells more readily than most people. The drawback is that they also have higher rates of cancer.

I dreaded the cataract surgery that I got about two years ago. With the premium vision correcting implants though, I now mostly go without glasses.

Your Mother is blessed, and so are you to have her. Mine passed away way back in ‘86. Way too soon.

Amen. I lost my father two years ago — and still think of him every day.
