To any field grade/general officers who have served on Ft. Hood, I have three questions:
1). Could Ft. Hood serve to temporarily house "illegal alien" detainees in tents, as Ft. Hood has over 200,000 acres?
2). What is the largest aircraft that can land/takeoff from Ft Hood as I believe the C-5G is the largest military transport plane?
3). President Trump has the legal authority to "Partially Mobilize" up to 1 million reservists without congressional approval. Is there any reason why reservists can't partner with ICE to facilitate transport to TX, or other locations to facilitate final deportation?

All,
Sorry for the double post, as this is my 1st post on FR.
To answer Q2: a c130 can fit over a thousand. Fly over the Gulf of America, and open the loading hatch mid flight.
I’m no field grade anything. But have served on Ft Hood for 7+yrs. 1st Cav; 2nd Armored; West Ft Hood; and a year active with the 49th Armored under the TX National Guard.
West Ft Hood has an air field where we would fly in and out on deployments. Not sure if it’s large enough for a C5 tho. There are a multitude of National Guard barracks on North Ft Hood. Plenty of space to house illegals.
So in my assessment, yes. It can handle as a processing point with much to spare.
Questions 1 and 2 are better asked of the lower ranks. The brass generally don’t know stuff like that. With exceptions.
The runway at Robert Gray Army Airfield is 10,000ft so it could handle a C-5 but the Air Force would more likely use C-17s anyway.
We deployed from Ft Hood for Desert Shield/Desert Storm in a C-5. 1ST CAV ALL THE WAY!!
Yes, however, there are better locations such as Ft. Chaffee, Midway Atoll, Shemya AFB in the Aleutians, Johnson Island, etc.

C17s all day long, and half loaded C5s.

Look up Title 10 vs Title 32 federal funds. CINC has options but should be using engineer and MP BN and BDE assets from various state NG IMHO. Think Operation Jump Start, etc.
10,000 foot runway should be able to handle anything except a Space Shuttle, and they aren’t flying those any more.
Why trust a General when Google is faster and smarter?
“The Army routinely has C-5 Galaxies come in.”

As a former defense contractor weenie, my limited trips to Fort Hood taught me that everything there is 20 miles apart.
They've been known to use neighboring ranches as targets.
I was posted on West Fort Hood when the plane carrying the shuttle landed for refueling. Their runway can take ANYTHING.
You did fine. Welcome home!
Yeah, I saw C-5s flying out of there back in those days also. Never flew in one.
I flew in one several times!
Thanks for the reply and the advice
Thanks for the info. However, I thought a senior officer might offer a better overall perspective on any logistical challenges to mobilizing the reserves for mass deportations.
