When I was a kid ice cube trays were stainless steel, then came aluminum, and now plastic.
Haven't had an ice cube tray in years.

I still have a bunch of those aluminum ones. I like them better than the plastic ones.

The only ice cube trays we own are the food grade silicone ones for large cubes to go into a cocktail.

How do we know if the dangerous plastics are not in our ice cube makers ? Even the internal parts are likely plastic.

If the BPA don’t get you then the BPS will.

Ice cube tray. I guess if you have a basic refrigerator with no ice maker you need an ice cube tray.
I'm old. I remember these old aluminum trays with the handle on top.

Same here. I don't use ice cubes in drinks. I grew up in the 50's and 60's. We had stainless steel or aluminum trays with the separate inserts that had the handle you lifted up to loosen the cubes.

Remember the handle you would pull up to break the ice cubes free from the metal forms? They sorta / kinda worked.

Bah! I don't believe in modern things like ice trays. I just cup my hand, run some water in it and hold it in the freezer.
If you can't wait a couple of hours for ice in your tea, you don't deserve it.

The last time I used an ice cube tray it was made of aluminum, had a lever to apply pressure to several hinged plates, and made all kinds of ice-on-metal noise when used. I’ve never used an ice tray since around 1985.

Forget the plastic. The dihydrogen monoxide in this trays is deadly and kills thousands a year.
