The FBI has issued a call for agents to voluntarily serve as bodyguards for Deputy Director Dan Bongino, a break from past practice in which the bureau’s No. 2 officials did not have security details, two current and two former FBI officials familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Bongino, the first deputy director in FBI history who is not a career agent, has pledged to act in a nonpartisan manner.
Last week, a message sent to FBI agents — known as a canvass — asked for volunteers to leave their jobs temporarily to serve on a protective security detail for Bongino. The canvass sought agents willing to relocate for 30 days of temporary duty to protect Bongino 24 hours a day, according to two former FBI officials familiar with security details. Full-time protection could require as many as 20 agents, they said.
The request for 30-day “temporary duty assignments,” or TDYs, means the detail will consist of a rotating group of agents who volunteer to leave their normal duties. Creating the security detail appears to run counter to one of FBI Director Kash Patel’s top priorities: transferring FBI agents from headquarters to the field, where, he argues, they can better fight crime.
The FBI declined to comment.

The dispicable lib media providing Intel to the lunatic fringe left
Forgot he went to work for the FBI.
Nothing really happening over there other than the promotion of people who should have been fired.
Dan knows stuff from being a bodyguard to a few presidents. People are worried.
Yeah, FBI looking like a big fail so far.
Alex Jones occasionally tries to prop them up with the claim that agents are poring through the Epstein material.
But those are preexisting FBI agents, if you will, so we know that nothing will come from that engineered distraction.
Protect Dan at all costs.
The same ones who ignored and buried it for years?
Fact: that stuff is NEVER coming out. Too many powerful people with too much to lose. Just like Diddy's stuff or the real JFK stuff. They will put out a lot of chaff that amounts to nothing. And pursue none of it. And if you think Pam Bondi is going to force something more, hah! She's a serious do-nothing disappointment.
NEVERMIND THAT.
What’s The Average Price for a 6-Hour Gutter Upgrade in Hammond?
Hopefully, he carries his Glock 43.
They need to close some FBI offices—even at random is fine with me—just to let all FBI agents know who the bosses are.
Reality check...
It is truly a sad state of affairs if either a Republican/Democrat feels the need for bodyguards from their own people and staff.
I was reading yesterday how marxists last step is to set up a dual government system.
The more that gets revealed, the more opposition, the more ‘danger they create’, the more I start leaning to the Tree of Liberty needs watering.
It’s easy to understand the frustration, but let’s remember it hasn’t even been 100 days in office.
Yep, that's one serious sign of trouble: the bureaucracy going full tyranny in order to save their skins individually.

See tag line.
Probably intel on active threats.
It does not matter if his predecessor had security. Dan is a public figure, so if there is reason to believe he is a target then he will get security. That is the standard that has been there for half a century.
” a call for agents to voluntarily serve as bodyguards”
Does ‘voluntarily serve’ in this context mean the agents are being asked to work for free? I sure hope not.
Whoever is selected for that detail, I hope Bongino gets to at very least meet and vet them personally.
100 days is just about all President Trump has to make effective changes. Everything after that will be second-order consequences of his successes or failures.
The recent appointment of Steven Jensen as assistant director in the FBI is an extremely bad indicator that the "Deep State" has staying power. The absence of management departures at the FBI is an unfavorable indicator. The lack of visible actions from Bondi in the DOJ is another unfavorable indicator.
There have been lots of firings at DOJ, the Secret Service, the IRS, and HHS. And USAID has been dismantled. These are all very favorable indicators. The constant drumbeat of restraining orders from the Federal District Courts have been brushed aside on appeals or Supreme Court rulings. These are very favorable indicators.
It is a mixed bag. What is being done right now matters. What may be planned for next year does not matter. We can probably assess the entire remaining Trump term of office by conditions in May and June 2025.
The FBI, like the KGB, amassed dirt on everyone. What do you think AI has been doing the past few years? They have data on everyone. The Trump administration will want to use it too.
Sig.
