Volkswagen is holding cars at US ports amid tariff turmoil.
Audi, the luxury arm of the world's second largest global automaker, has confirmed it's in a high-stakes holding pattern triggered by President Donald Trump's 25 percent tariff on imported vehicles.
The affected cars arrived in the US the same day Trump announced the sweeping levies. Now, they sit idle as VW considers its next move.
Executives are thought to be hoping for either a presidential U-turn or a chance to negotiate a lower rate.
It's the latest shot across the bow from VW. The company said it will display new 'import fee.'

Right...how long will VW hold their inventory at US ports? Not long, methinks.
The original Swasticar™️
I honestly forgot that VWs were still a thing. You never see them on the road or any dealerships.
It’s like my Dad’s friend Jack said,
“Everyone should own a Volkswagen, but only once.”
Right...how long will VW hold their inventory at US ports? Not long, methinks.
They should pay to ship them back where they came from. Perma ban those VINs going forward
What US imports?
I got a buddy that’s a VW Rabbit freak.....I men he’s got a BUNCH of ‘em.
He says any VW made after 2009 is junk anyway.
Helps US to buy American and stop sending the bastards our money.
Win win every dollar that stays in this Country continues to circulate and to pay our doge shrinking bills.
I remember when Alyssa Milano said she would not buy a tesla anymore since it was owned by a “Nazi” so she instead bought a Volkswagon..so someone tweeted her “Gee whose gonna tell her”
Interesting...I see a lot of them every day. Maybe their popularity is regional.
My wife bought a new Jetta in 1981 before we were married. It was just ok.
In 2004, we bought a used 2000 Jetta as a third car for the kids to use. It was junk. Every plastic part in the cabin broke and it drank a quart of oil at every fill-up! That was our “Never again!” car.
Loved my last MK 3.5 Cabrio.
(2.0 too slow)
An absolute joy to drive.
(It weren’t no Rabbit)
Had a big issue with “new” lead free solder back in the day.
Ya gotta enjoy tinkering to keep it going.
All my Audis were the same way.
Honda, Toyota, even Subaru crush them in reliability.
They really won’t be missed in America.
Like that Batshiiite Crazy girlfriend from your errant youth.
Fun to remember, but really won’t be missed.
How does THIS work? Is Volkswagen the German government? How can a private or publicly held manufacturer set tariffs or block ports? What am I missing here?
Funny thing, no articles seems to mention the 10% duty and %19 VAT tax applied to US cars imported into Herman. Yes, that 19% VAT tax is applied to the 10% import tax too!
Germany charge a 30% tariff on US cars!
Oh, wait a minute. I think I misread the article.
Those storage fees are gonna add up
Just a typical piss poor headline. VW is stopping the importation of German cars into the US.
