How many countries did he pass through before reaching the U.S.? Why didn’t he seek asylum in any of them?
Note 2 things:
1. While the article does tell us why he needed to leave Venezuela, it doesn’t tell us why he NEEDED to come all the way to the United States.
2. At least TWO of the countries that he passed through have gay marriage (Colombia and Mexico) - why didn’t he apply in either of those countries, particularly Colombia as he is required to do per International Law (first safe country a ‘refugee’ arrives in).
We all know the answers above, but too bad for him - should have followed UN Law, as he’d be living safely in Colombia, rather than being imprisoned in El Salvador.

In Venezuela, same sex sexuality is legal - marriage is not. The government of Venezuela has even begun participating in their pride events. As far as “targeted for being gay” goes, these people want governments to make it illegal to display any form of disagreement in their lifestyle choices.
