Yes. But where a political movement or government is defined is by actions and policies, not their name. By that logic North Korea is democratic and China is a republic.
Although the party started out trying to appeal to socialist ideology, once Hitler took over the party those early party leaders were purged, socialists, communists, Jews, mentally handicapped, homosexuals were rounded up.
I know it’s convenient and easy to lump everything bad into one category, the definitions mean something though, they’re not just pejoratives.

Nazi’s were collectivists. They favored strong state control of industry, media, health-care, education , the suppression of religion - for the “German” people.
They simply took socialism/communism’s “working class,” and merely substituted a national/racial component
They were proud socialists (and nationalists) and thus their name was extremely relevant. Its how they saw themselves.

But we've always had communists in the Universities. It goes way back. Probably 100 years ago. Before the Soviets sent their moles to the U.S.
Reagan was able to destroy the Evil Empire. But he didn't do anything that was happening in his backyard.
Now we are dealing with this. At least we are not seeing young men attending college anymore. Even if they do, they are less likely to be indoctrinated.
