On the Senate floor, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) expressed deep concern about the Republican budget resolution, and put forward an amendment to raise the debt ceiling.

He’s the most intelligent Senator and must regularly show us that he is (sarc)
Go away Traitor!
Everything is not about you!
You don’t have to tell me there is no “Trust Fund”.
Democrats killed that years ago.
Anybody that believes our Modern Democrat run government is
an idiot.
That being said we have to deal with life and laws
as best as we can.
Problem with Democracies is there are more idiots in a population than smart people, but in a Democracy everyone can vote.
Figure out how that will end up!
Income tax was the worst thing that ever happened to America. we did just fine on tariffs before that.
Sorry, it is still a contract with those who paid into the system.
Ignoring that, doesn’t make untrue!
Heh Rand, Go F**K yourself.
As someone else said, “Rand, you are dead to me.”
The Trump spending will be larger than the Biden spending, the tax cuts issues are just fights over the scraps of the Republic.
Rand Paul?
Is this the same Rand Paul that is in agreement with Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins? The worst RINO’s in the Senate?
All. Righty. Then.
Why? I get that (per your FR name) you’re a Rand Fan. So am I to some degree.
But he is dead wrong in opposing Trump and aligning with Dems and RINOs.
So why do you keep posting thread after thread showcasing his current failure?
I’d think you’d be better served distancing yourself from Rand for awhile.
Trump will prevail as will America. Rand is on brand again. Compromised?
Giving Congress unchecked authority to blow though $5 trillion will result in great waste.
Congress has more need of a leash than most dogs.
I suggest a $500 billion debt limit increase at a time. That gives an opportunity to throw in reforms at every vote to increase the debt limit.
I thought Graham was able to establish what the floor was to be. So why the deficit?
He voted and co-sponsored the recent Senate Bill to go against President Trump's tariff hikes on Canada. He was the only Rino who co-sponsored the Bill along with 9 RATS. Only four Repukes voted for it. He voted with 47 RATS for the Bill. 48 Republicans voted against it. One Republican didn't vote at all.
That should be he voted with 43 RATS and 3 other Repukes on the Bill for a total of 47 votes.
It’s not a contract. Congress can reduce or even cancel your benefits any time it wants.
This is well established in law, and even the democrats are all in favor of it as long as you keep the discussion limited to means testing and jacking up Social Security tax rates and Medicare premiums on “the rich.”
You have NO ownership rights. None.
Sorry, but you are Wrong and stupid to boot.
That is not how the millions of people who paid into that system for years believe or feel about this issue and who depend on these social systems to survive in their retirement.
You know, the voters, the ones that put President Trump into office and the current slim majorities in both houses of congress.
The same voters that if you stupidly got President Trump to mess around with these social services would turn around and vote against President Trump in the mid-terms and remove both GOP majorities and doom the GOP to the minority for decades.
It would also stop President Trump’s agenda in its tracks and destroy this country.
Just plain Stupid!
“Deficits don’t matter”
Until the money is worthless and the economy is reduced to barter or using other currencies.
You can only steal via inflation until the money is worthless.
But you could go about self-righteously pounding yourself on the cheat about how right you are, there would be that!
But you could go about self-righteously pounding yourself on the chest about how right you are, there would be that!
You tend to forget, a bankruptcy can negate a contract.
Y’all can’t get blood out of a Turnip!
What millions of people feel or believe about Social Security is irrelevant as a matter of law. The great majority of politicians have lied about Social Security since 1935.
A majority of Americans believe the lies, which makes them dupes or fools. But they do believe the lies, which is why we are going to ride the bankruptcy express off the cliff.
Meanwhile, Congress has changed Social Security benefits and tax schemes many times. Since any cuts are politically radioactive, they try to camouflage them.
The last president to face up honestly to the problem, to his great credit, was Bush 43. He proposed shifting SS to a fully funded basis, basically like a thrift savings plan, in which we would have individually owned and fully inheritable, personal accounts. Al Gore howled to the moon about the “risky scheme” of privatization, taking the position that kiting bad checks to future generations is better. Bush told the truth and managed to get elected anyhow.
Trump, unfortunately, has gone into reckless pander mode and promises massive tax cuts and unfunded benefit increases in a system that is already actuarially bankrupt.
The default option under current law will be a 30 percent across the board cut in benefits in about ten years.
The democrats’ solution will be big tax increases on upper income taxpayers and all employers, plus severe means testing that will basically strip benefits from above median income retirees. Because Social Justice.
Trump’s various proposals will simply accelerate the slide into bankruptcy. But Trump knows he will be out of the White House by then, so he thinks it is someone else’s problem.
