No debt ceiling increase then no tax cuts again, ever. Rand is dead to me.

Deficits don’t matter in the short term. Deficits can be useful in building infrastructure that is too expensive to do it affordably. However, you can’t do that forever.

He could win about 80% of the time. But he seems to prefer losing 100% of the time.

100%. We (includes many Western countries) have been doing it for 20 odd years

Rand says if this is passed it’s $5 trillion of borrowing— the most borrowed EVER by the US government.

“Something is fishy here”

Rep. Thomas Massie raised similar concerns:

Thomas Massie:

“Who wants to tell them?

By continuing 2024 appropriations into 2025 with a ā€œContinuing Resolution,ā€ Congress just locked in a large portion of the Biden agenda for the first nine months of Trump’s presidency.”

Just get rid of all corporate welfare (John Stossel reported on how huge it was years and years ago, so it’s well over 400 billion a year now.

End the $200 billion a year or so going to “migrants” brought into the US.

Lower military spending by 200-300 billion a year by making Europe defend themselves and not have the US do this so they can shift the money saved to their social welfare programs.

Make Japan, Singapore, Australia, NZ, Taiwan, and other Asian Pacific allies shift more of their spending to military to help the US, saving the US at least amother 100 billion plus.

I’m an old man.
I paid for my social security, medicare, and due to my service my VA coverage, so no cuts to those.
The rest of the government not explicitly expressed in the constitution can go AWAY! Screw the Useless Democrat do nothing voters.
There would be no deposits then and we could pay our debts off in a very short period.

Let’s give the administration a chance. After all Commerce Secretary Lutnick did say on Feb 26 they are going to pay off the debt in four years and Trump didn’t correct him. I remember watching that statement and was stunned.

Putting hyperbole aside perhaps they will make some progress in that regard. At this point any progress is helpful.

“SECRETARY LUTNICK: ... ... we are going to balance this budget, and we are going to pay off the debt under President Trump.”

“By continuing 2024 appropriations into 2025 with a ā€œContinuing Resolution,ā€ Congress just locked in a large portion of the Biden agenda for the first nine months of Trump’s presidency.ā€

He is an idiot (most likely purposely lying) and a big fat liar. Doge is reporting over 140 Billion dollars in savings so far. It will exceed 600 billion this year.

It does not matter what congress appropriates. The cabinet secretaries don’t have to spend all the appropriated. They can keep vast majority of DOGE savings in place. It used to be any money left over (not spent) near the end of the budget year would cause the secretaries to go on a massive spending spree so their budgets would not be smaller the next year. Guess what you stupid A$$ Rand, they are not going to do that this time. Trump would fire them in a heartbeat.

So, it does not matter what the budget is. Over 500 billion dollars less will be spent, maybe up to a trillion, DOGE’s goal. So, shut you big fat lying mouth up Randy Pually or tell the American people the truth!

Save 600 billion?

It will?

Promises, promises.

It was supposed to be what Biden was spending minus 2 trillion, thus no more federal debt added on if just spending what is taken in via taxes, not 5 trillion more added to the federal debt.

That’s what was promised.

They can cut 1 trillion right now with just the stuff I listed.

So 140 billion plus 1 trillion more.

You didn’t pay for your Social Security and Medicare. You paid for your parents’ Social Security and Medicare. Your tax dollars were spent as fast as they were paid. Nothing was saved.

Calling a Ponzi scheme a “sacred intergenerational compact” doesn’t mean it’s not a Ponzi scheme.

There is no Social Security Trust Fund. And never has been. The “trust fund” is simply a special category of off budget debt. It’s a figment of trans accounting, which is as bogus as gender reassignment surgery.

The fact that you’ve been lied to your whole life and want to believe it doesn’t mean the lies are true.
