A Russian negotiator has warned that peace talks with the US on the war in Ukraine could drag into 2026. Grigory Karasin, who led talks with the US in Saudi Arabia on March 24, said on Friday that there may be no decisive results from talks with the US.
“It would have been naive to expect any breakthroughs,” Karasin said to Russian state TV Channel Rossiya 24.
-snip-
It comes after Russia effectively rejected a 30-day pause in the fighting proposed by the US. It also asked for sanctions against food and fertiliser to be lifted - along with the rowing back of EU economic sanctions - after the US said it would “help restore Russia’s access to the world market for agricultural and fertiliser exports” for a ceasefire in the Black Sea.
Europe is currently not keen to lift sanctions and Kremlin critics are sceptical Russia wants much progress in peace talks as it makes incremental gains on the battlefield. US President Donald Trump said on March 25 Russia might be “dragging their feet”.
Military analysts in Ukraine assess Russia’s forces are preparing to launch a fresh military offensive in the coming weeks to maximise the pressure on Ukraine and strengthen the Kremlin’s negotiating position in ceasefire talks. They believe the Kremlin is preparing a multi-pronged push across the 621-mile front line.
Putin, meanwhile, said on Thursday that Russian forces are close to “finishing off” Ukrainian defenders. “On the entire front line, the strategic initiative is completely in the hands of the Russian armed forces,” Mr Putin said on Thursday at a forum in the Arctic port of Murmansk. “Our troops, our guys are moving forward and liberating one territory after another, one settlement after another, every day.”

Zelinsky and putin both happy. Walk away. Let europe supply them for free.

Zelinsky and putin both happy. Well its clear Putin does not want peace.
Trump is for peace, Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire, only (no surprise), Putin refuses to stop invading Ukraine and in fact when speaking to submariners, Putin smugly declared: 'Not long ago I said we'd grind [Ukraine] down — now it looks like we'll finish them off'.

Considering how completely Ukraine is being propped up by the United States, Trump could end the conflict simply by hitting the off switch on US assistance.
Let the Euroweenies defend these Baltic nazis...

Ukraine attacked Russian energy infrastructure from March 22 to march 24, and Zelensky and Co. are loudly proclaiming they will make no concessions, even as they run out of people who are taller than a rifle to go fight. Then Russia retaliated on Friday, March 28 and suddenly the media was no longer blacked out and they were all carrying water for the Ukraine, falsely claiming Russia broke ceasefire terms first. No wonder Putin doesn't think peace is worth pursuing at this time.
"On March 22, Kiev carried out two drone strikes on the Valuika gas distribution station in the settlement of Shvedunovka in Russia’s borderline Belgorod Region. A day later, on March 23, Russian air defenses repelled a Ukrainian drone attack on the Glebovskoye gas condensate field on Crimea’s Cape Tarkhankut Crimea. And early on March 24, the enemy tried to conduct a drone attack on the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station, the Russian Defense Ministry said."

Woopee for Russia. Three years of killing and destruction and they sound like the mentally retarded thugs as always.
“Our guys are liberating town after town” so we’ll keep the killing for another two years.
Trump doesn’t want to fight with Putin as yet, but the question will be if he surges in military support in the end. Because that’s the only thing that will impress Putin.
For all the nutty pro Putin cheering here, Trump doesn’t really want to see his plan to end the war turn into an outright defeat.
Ukraine is nuts too.
Maybe Europe can supply them, but I doubt it.
Hopefully Russia is talking tough but planning to settle. I doubt it.

If Trump doesn’t cut off the Ukraine and the odious Little Z-Man after all of this then Trump has NO BALLS.
To: marcusmaximus
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump urged Ukraine to “get on the ball and get a job done” as he expressed frustration over Kyiv’s position over peace talks, saying he found it “more difficult, frankly, to deal with Ukraine.”
He said that Russia is “bombing the hell out of” Ukraine but argued that Russian President Vladimir Putin had “all the cards” when it came to negotiating a peace deal.

After Zelensky and the Ukrainian government assisted in the first impeachment of President t Trump I hope the Ukraine is no more.
To: All
The 1 October date ends the CR and the current CR was put into place with promises of “doing it right” for the 1 October date. There is also a pending Debt Ceiling fight upcoming, pre 1 October. The usual special actions from Treasury are currently underway, and predicting outright exhaustion of those actions is not possible until exact tax receipts are known mid April. Odds are . . . June.
June and October will be much on Trump’s mind upcoming. Odds would look good that efforts to finesse controversy in Congress when a cut-off is decided upon will be successful by making the cut-off something not applying to food aid.
But the numbers are just too large. A cut-off of flow of things to Ukraine is inevitable. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford it.

"TASS. Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union" This coming from a moron that constantly posts UK tabloid propaganda.....
To: marcusmaximus
You keep quoting NATO sources, and NATO is conducting a proxy war against Russia. So NATO = TASS. NATO is actually far worse, having helped overthrow the Ukraine and destroyed the Ukrainian way of life in their proxy war. NATO is less reliable as a news source. NATO postured about giving Ukraine all this support and then admitted it couldn’t. NATO has been lying, claiming Ukraine was winning until they couldn’t hide the fact that the Ukraine can’t win.

Ukraine attacked Russian energy infrastructure Ukraine agreed to the Trump plan of a 30 day ceasefire, which Russia refused.
Russia hasn't actually agreed to ANY ceasefire, including on energy since they have made additional demands, dropping sanctions, lifting financial restrictions, Ukraine halting mobilization, weapons shipments to Ukraine, etc.
The White House wanted a temporarily halt on attacks on energy and infrastructure targets, but Russia instead said it had agreed to refrain from attacks on “energy infrastructure” only and continued daily drone attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure.
March 11: Ukraine agrees in principle to a ceasefire proposal following talks between the two countries in Saudi Arabia, and the US agrees to reinstate military and intelligence sharing.
March 13: Witkoff travels to Moscow to brief Kremlin officials on the US-proposed plan. Putin says he agrees in principle but then presented a list of demands that made the plan impossible to carry out. Those demands include a suggestion that Ukraine halts mobilization and any training of its troops, and that other nations stop supplying weapons to Kyiv during the ceasefire.
March 18: Trump speaks to Putin on the phone but fails to convince him to sign on to the ceasefire agreement. The White House says that Russia had agreed to temporarily halt attacks on energy and infrastructure targets in Ukraine. But Russia instead said it had agreed to refrain from attacks on “energy infrastructure.”
March 21: The southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa is struck by a large-scale Russian drone attack.
Municipal workers clean up after Russian drones hit shops during the night attack in Odesa, Ukraine, March 21, 2025.

March 25: Russian and US officials meet in the same hotel in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. By the afternoon, the White House says Ukraine and Russia have agreed to “ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea.” Ukraine’s Zelensky says in a news conference that Kyiv has agreed to stop using military force in the Black Sea, but shortly after, the Kremlin says it will agree provided financial sanctions are lifted on key Russian institutions – thereby making the deal void.
Following that call, Trump told Newsmax he believes Russia wants to end its war with Ukraine, but that Moscow could be delaying a deal.
“I think that Russia wants to see an end to it, but it could be they’re dragging their feet. I’ve done it over the years,”

Tell Zelensky - he’s the one lying (again), shrieking that the Russian’s ‘VIOLATED’ the ceasefire.

Both Zelenski and Putin will and can drag their feet - Zelenski however appears often to want a bigger war because he can't win against Russia....obviously. So he may just wait and stall until the US has a new President - meanwhile milk the EU until then to keep himself going. He's done it before.
