Why young men love the old school masculinity of James Bond and The Godfather over modern Hollywood.

Sprained ankles and fainting!
Hopefully, someone out there with an extensive knowledge of movies will submit a list of “Tampon Walz” movies. You know, ones which portray the male star as a dumb-*ssed wimp.
I’ve seen movies with a good, masculine, normal lead character..a few times a year, but I actively search them out.
And they are not usually A list characters.
Angel Studios produces some good ones. And there are some good independent ones.
And even Twister 2 and The Fall Guy that both came out last year in theaters were good movies with good male leads :)
No pansies are woke talk
Humphry Bogart was excellent in everything he did. Just a great actor. Currently, Dennis Quaid is at that level.
That covers a lot of TV commercials these days....
Modern Hollywood is making movies for the international audience, not for America.
Excellent insight. I couldn’t agree more.
I got the complete box set of the “Classic Monsters”. Great stuff
One that was an absolute travesty was “Starship Troopers”. The Heinlein book is in my top 5 of all time. The movie made a cartoon out of the virtues of service, esprit de corps, patriotism and self-sacrifice.
The Caine munity was an awesome movie.
Agree many of the comedies in the 1940’s were great movies.
Any movie with John Wayne.
Rio Bravo 1959, The Westerner 1940, Ben Hur 1957, Sahara 1943...the list goes on.
A low budget gem of film noir.

The Big Combo.
Slow starter but really good.
I love many of the old black and white movies. I’m an old guy.
“Above and Beyond” (1952). Story of Paul Tibbetts and what went into his mission.
The Best Years Of Our Lives.
John Wayne’s worst movie was “The Longest Day”, imo and I love his movies.
“In Harms Way” was his best war picture, imo.
Any man seeking an antidote to the upsqueak inflection virus needs to hear at least 2 hours per day of pre-upsqueak English.
And John Wayne curing a speech impediment.
I don’t call Godfather and James Bond “old school masculinity”. They’re better than current stuff, of course. You have to go back farther — like the stars who did manly stints in the military during WWII. Glenn Ford, Charlton Heston, Kirk Douglas, Clark Gable, etc.
