It is upsetting to read that a man named Hinton is arrested for doing this. The first black man to graduate from both Harvard and then the Harvard Medical School was William Agustus Hinton. Hinton was the first black Professor of Medicine at Harvard and Chief of the laboratory at the Wasserman Laoratory. While there he invented what is called the Hinton Test for syphilis.
I hope this all turns out to be a case of bad judgement. A lot worse things probably would have happened if he left the room to go to the bathroom. Kids love to harass substitute teachers and report them.
I believe Miss Landers, Miss Canfield and Principal Cornelia Rayburn all did this occasionally on Leave It To Beaver.

He was probably one of the many dimwits who, during Covid, would wear a mask to the Men’s room but never washed their hands.
Never trust a man who wears bowties for any reason. Unless it is a costume, or he knows how to tie on. Probably on alcohol or drugs, or having a seizure...can you say”do not ask back”
On the bright side, at least he did use a can.... So it could have been worse.
